2018 Waco Annual Charity Open DGPT

One really nice moment: when Paige's long putt for eagle hit metal, Catrina was jumping up and down, hoping Paige was going to make it. Despite what you've heard about animosity between the two, that was a good of Catrina.

I saw that too. I think she was also right there at the end to congratulate her on her win.

I liked the BlackInkDiscs ad where it starts out looking like an online dating ad, but is really looking for that perfect disc. Had Catrina, Eagle, and Simon in the ad. Like Catrina needs help finding dates, but I digress... Good ad.

That was hilarious. I noticed in the bottom left corner at the beginning, it said "www.frolfersonly.com”. Good stuff.

Cat's in a much better headspace this season. It's so much fun to watch, even during events when she struggles. I hope she gets the putt back.

Frolfersonly.com is genius. Talked to Juan from Overstable -- apparently he either came up with the concept or did the commercial entirely. Crashed their site the first day when it aired. He's a legit graphic artist for movie studios as his day job, so it doesn't surprise me that he was behind it. One of the most talented dudes in disc golf media.

via text he told me it was a collision (he wasn't involved) that shut down traffic for a long time. All of the cars were stuck in place until it cleared. I'm assuming it was a pretty bad one, seems like he was sitting there for awhile.

Word on the street is that it was a 15 car pileup

Quick thinking:

Call your caddy or one of the female or masters players you know (who are already done). Tell him/her, what happened, and you're getting them an Uber from B East to walking distance of where you're stuck. Then the Uber brings him to you, he takes your car and the Uber takes you back to B East.

Just a thought.

Waco does weird things to Simon. Two years ago he was too sick to play and this year traffic kept he and his girlfriend from arriving on time. Since they couldn't make it on time hopefully they got to go sightseeing in Austin.

Congrats to Big Jerm on back to back wins.

Kind of a stretch. By the time you figure all that out and get the ride the time lost might be the same as just waiting it out on the highway for the wreck to clear. It's hard to armchair quaterback though. So props for that. I guess.

Below is all the drama of every score on every hole for the FPO field in one chart.

The best single-hole performance was by Courtney Cannon on hole 6 (last hole) in round 1 where her score of 3 was 2.5 throws better than expected.

The most costly was Kristina Gold's 10 on the same hole, same round. (Paige's snowman on hole 5 of the last round was only the fifth worst.)

Rebecca Cox played the most consistently.

I don't know where this occurred, but Simon might've been unable to safely leave his car, unable to get off the road (many interstates and major roads are fenced in), or there was no place for an Uber to pick him up close enough to make a difference.

I don't know what smartphone Simon owns, but Siri on my iPhone has saved me many hours by diverting me away from massive accidents like that one. Even when I know exactly where I'm going and how I'm getting there, I'll get the Maps app and Siri going, just in case.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda, Simon didn't make it, Jerm won. Let's move along now.

There might be a parallel universe where Simon won. Our universe might converge with that one 20 years down the way. We'll look back at this tourney, telling our grand children about the one time that big Jerm won Waco in extra holes, against some other dude, but when we look it up to see who the playoff was against, there will be no record of Jeremy winning, the record books will say Simon won the playoff and there will be no record of him missing his tee time...

Of course there's a parallel universe where I win this tournament, but there's no possibility of this universe converging with that one.

Any comments on the "line of play" deal, where Jerm says he is taking the stance in relation to the mando at 3 o clock? Problem is, if the line of play to the basket doesnt miss the mando, you cannot do that.

What hole/round was it? (link to the video would be even better)

If it is as you describe, you are correct. You only use the mando as the "target" to determine line of play if the line from the basket to your marker passes on the incorrect side of the mando.

Was lining up at 3 o'clock advantageous to Jerm or did he simply misunderstand/misapply the rule?

It looked to me he was positioning to get far enough off the tree to throw a forehand. The other thing that rubbed me wrong about his game was how he threw in a joke comment about Nate's score right after Perkins was announced at the playoff before teeing off. They might be buddies who wouldn't care about a good humored jab, but before a shot with that kind of cash on the line I'd think staying quiet would be the most respectful way to go.

It really sucks when spectators affect they outcome of a disc. Wish Nate's disc had been unhindered.

The spectator didn't do anything to affect the outcome of the disc, Nate threw it into a crowd of people 30' on the other side of the OB line. No one's fault but the player who threw the shot.

By the rules, there is no playable line of play. The box centers around the line of play, but the player has no mandate to play on it. As long as their foot placement is in the box, they are good to go. Now, I haven't looked at the specific instance in question, but if his foot/toe was in the box, he's good to go. This was my original complaint about the new rule, it allows what you're describing.
