Decent, almost hidden course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 16, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Concrete Tees
-Decent Baskets
-Signage OK (DGA "Peel n Stick")
-Mixture of open/wooded

Cons:

-Mostly short (254' the longest)
-No elevation
-Prone to flooding
-No benches / trashcans

Other Thoughts:

Brandt Park DGC is located in the eastern part of Brandt Park on the north end of Denver, IA. Tried to play this course mid summer to be shut out by flooding, but this September day, things were in decent shape. Play is mostly straightforward with some large trees for interest. You do play along side a creek for 4 holes, but need to be way right for that to come into play (possibly way long on #4). #4 shoots into a narrow green and #5 shoots out of a tunnel of trees, but mostly you are trying to stay to the left with most of the trees/hazards on your right. Play is quick, there were a couple of other groups there, but no issues. A decent course to bag, if you're tripping by Denver, IA (The "Mile Wide" City). We played it twice for 18 holes, enjoyed the rounds and would possibly play again if in the area.

Short, Fun, Some Trees 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

All nine holes are unique. Many lengths differ between 200-310 feet and you need a different shot selection on each one. There are nine cement tee pads laid down, and all but two tee pads have corresponding signs by them. The course is fairly easy to follow.

Enough trees, branches, and thick weeds to make you earn some good drives (although a full drive was rarely necessary).

Cons:

Many of the tee signs are facing the wrong direction that you are aiming towards, which can be a bit confusing when you can see baskets in both directions.

Hole nine was sideways on the gorund. Hole 4 had no tee sign.

No holes an advanced player needed a full drive on.

Other Thoughts:

An out of the way place that seems to be rarely busy. Worth a 20 minute stop if you are cruising past on highway 63 or highway 3.

First review somehow! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is really a nice little park that is disc golf exclusive in kind of the middle of nowhere. There are concrete tee pads on all holes. These tees are more than adequate for what you will need here. these are all level as can be and grip very nicely. There are also the generic white plexi glass tee signs on every hole. I normally am not a fan of these but the ones here are fine. They just don't seem to hold up. And give these a couple Iowa winters and they probably won't either. For now however they're fine. Par, hole number, distance, and even the beloved next tee arrow. Also a basic as basic can get hole map. The flow from hole to hole is very intuitive and easy to follow. the baskets are DGA baskets. I don't remember the type exactly but they are in great shape, catch great and have the awesome easy to read number plates on top. All facing the tee.

Cons:

There aren't many cons to think of here. The course is what it is. It's a little 9 in a little nondescript town. No big bomber holes, It's all 200 to 300 feet. The bugs can get bad I'd assume being near the river, though they weren't in late July for us. The course could be prone to flooding in wetter months it seems. Not a con, just be aware of it.

Other Thoughts:

Nothing to travel out of your way to play by any means but this is a really well designed, fun little course. I have minimal Iowa disc golf experience, but this was the best of the 6 I did play and by far (9 holers). You can do way worse than this place and I know by experience. Props need to be given to the designers here, this is a fantastic course for what it is. This was such a pleasant surprise for me playing this. I feel that any skill level player will enjoy this place at least a little.
