Hiking and Biking and Disc Golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 29, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

On a trip through the area, I decided to stop by for a quick nine to try out the course. The staff at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center was friendly and helpful. The full page color map they gave me was accurate (and somewhat necessary) for the course. Most of the baskets were standard catchers, but a few were homemade wrought iron works of art. There were decent signs at each tee.

Cons:

This is not really a disc golf course, but rather a string of tee markers and baskets placed along their hiking and biking trails. There are no tee pads, just areas where they decided to plant the wooden tee markers, and by the untrodden looks of those areas I may have been the first to use them in a while. The trails which serve as fairways are plenty wide, so the lines were fair, but the winding nature of the trails made for some odd golf shots. In most cases the winding trail meant birdies were either very hard or impossible, staying on the trail meant an easy par, and getting off the trail was almost a guaranteed bogey.

Other Thoughts:

It's obvious that the disc golf course was an add-on to the existing sports center and not a primary feature -- even the signs and maps say "Disk Golf" instead of "Disc Golf". I often waited for bikers and hikers to clear the trails so I could throw, and did not see another golfer.

Overall, it was better than not playing, but I wouldn't go out of my way to play there again. Especially at $5 for nine holes.

Pros:

A few long holes and a map improved playing the course.

Cons:

Costs $5 for 9 holes. Wasn't designed as a disc golf course so there are poor sight-lines, poor tee boxes, and very dense forest off of "fairways". The "fairways" were just rock paths that chewed up discs.
