Pros:
This course has had some much-needed changes and upgrades over the summer and is in need of a new review.
* All new Prodigy baskets for all 18 holes.
* New "next tee" signs on most holes.
* New tee signs with hole number and distance on every hole.
* Some holes completely moved and redesigned with new tee pads.
* Layout is much more playable now and easier to navigate.
Cons:
* Still a very short course that won't please some people.
* Hole 12 has no tee pad, just dirt.
* Tee signs don't include diagram of hole. (But honestly on holes this short it really isn't needed)
* Some of the old, no longer used tee signs and tee pads are still there.
* Hole 6 could present a danger if the two picnic shelters next to the fairway are in use.
Other Thoughts:
This is still a very short course. The longest hole is 13 at 300 feet so it's not going to be much of a challenge for a lot of players. However, it could be just the ticket for a casual round between friends who don't want to work too hard but still have enough of a challenge to make it fun. There are enough trees to make you shape your shot on some holes and other holes have small elevation changes. Holes 5,13, 14, 15, and 16 are completely redesigned and relocated. Being a city park, there are other things going on but most of it, except for a few walking paths, are away from the course. I have played this course mostly on weekdays and have had no problems with any other park users. It's not far from downtown Kingsport where there are restaurants and other amenities. I wouldn't recommend you travel very far just to play this course, but if you happen to be in the area anyway, it's worth spending an hour or so to get to throw some plastic around.
