+Nice Mach X baskets. All there and all in good shape. Have number plates installed and facing the tees.
+Nice concrete tees. Long enough for the shorter holes. Could be a bit longer for some of the shots.
+Signage is full-color, informative and seems accurate. You will need to look at it to make sure that you are aiming for the right basket a couple of times.
+The park is big, fairly well maintained, has camping, bathrooms, water fountain, etc.
+Some fun shots like 9 which plays towards the pond and 10 which goes over the pond. 11-14 play in some big trees at the edge of the park and don't intersect any other holes.
+Longer than most park style courses. Averages just under 300 per hole. Not a pitch and putt for sure.

-Look at the course map and tell me that 3,4,5 and 16,17s layout is the strangest thing that you have seen on a DGC. I have seen some moderate hole overlap and some tight quarters but this is another thing all together. Combine that with the fact that there is also a sand volleyball court, walking path, baseball field, and playground in the mix and it gets ugly. Dangerous. Works ok if you are the only one in the park but barely playable if you are not. Be careful.
-Hole 10 is a cool water shot but also plays way too close to a shelter.
-I could write a book on safety related cons to this course but I won't put in any more. They really seemed set on having 18 holes here when 12 would have been great.
-As noted above, tees are ok size but some of the 350+ holes could use a bigger run up.
-Could lose a disc on 9-10.
-Pretty minimal elevation.

+Overall, this course is solid. I played on a weekday during the day and it was fine for me. It is a small town so maybe the safety issues aren't too bad. Number one takeaway from this review is to be careful.
+I'd play here again for sure. Probably around the same time if possible.
+A common theme in my reviews is that a simple redesign could be very beneficial. The land here is nice. They have opportunity with the big trees and the pond. The only big con is the safety issue. This park could be a 3.5 without those issues.

Course is mostly flat

This a nice multi-use 18 hole city course in Elk Run that I enjoyed playing on a cold, windy Monday afternoon. I didn't know where to exactly park but Jefferson St near hole #1 seemed to be the ideal spot. First thing that I noticed was that the course had fairly short concrete tee pads even though most of the holes here shouldn't require a long run-up. The tee pads were even with the ground to facilitate a run-up if necessary though. Although the course is mostly flat, there are plenty of trees scattered throughout the course that reminded me to keep my drives in control from the concrete tee pads. There is nice, colorful artwork on the tee signs that told me the hole number, par, distance, and path to the basket. There is one tweener par 4 that falls into the easy par 4/hard par 3 category. This is a well-maintained course and I can see how this course can potentially get crowded with other players and parkgoers. Some of the holes play fairly close to the park's amenities and roads so that potentially can cause some concern in safety and delays depending on how busy the park is. Another thing is this course has five holes that have intersecting fairways - which could be better designed in my opinion. A couple of holes had some moderately long walks in between but they weren't that bad. There is potential to lose a disc in the pond at holes 9&10 and also in the canal that runs along the left side of hole 13 and behind hole 15 basket if you go too long. Other than that, it's a decent course to play if you're in the area.

-Nice manicured and clean small town park. Quiet setting with plenty of playgrounds, camping, and a small pond.
-New Mach X baskets, cement tees, and tee signs on each hole.
-A good variety of hole types and distances from tight ace runs to some open bombs and a couple of water hazards in play with the pond and a creek. The course makes good use of the trees throughout the park for shot shaping and options off the tee.
-The course was easy to find and we had very little issues navigating the course, especially with being able to access the course map with the DGCR app.

-The biggest con I have, coming from a design perspective, are the many safety issues throughout the course. Hole 1 starts off playing parallel to the road and is definitely in the hazard zone for errant shots going into the road and even hitting a house with windy conditions. There are a couple of holes that cross fairways and a road, tee pads in other fairways, and holes that play too close to playgrounds and a picnic shelter. Being that the course is in a small town, these issues won't be too big of a concern right away. The layout, however, will create issues for tournaments or if the course gets busy.
-Tee pads are a little small for the longer holes. One tee pad is directly next to a camp site with the power supply outlets right in the way of a run up; there was a camper in the space just a few feet right of the pad. Hole 18's tee is pointed at the wrong basket.
-Some of the canopies on a few holes are too low for the hole lengths and need to be trimmed up a little.
-No alternate pin placements

The course offers some good challenge for all types of players, as well as a good mix of hole types. It also plays pretty quick for an 18 hole. The park is a great spot for disc golf and I feel that more thought towards safety with the course design larger tees for the longer holes would have helped the course earn a higher rating. The course is right off the interstate and is a fun, quick play if you are in the area.
