Santa Fe Trail 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 2, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

This short course has a couple of nice holes in a park that is well maintained and full of other things to do. The Harmon and Santa Fe Parks DGC fairways are covered with grass and has a good number of mature trees. There is the slightest amount of slope on a hole or two, but this one is pretty flat overall. No water is in play unless you hulk out and throw one into the pool on six.

It is nine holes, and the setup is pretty nice. It has concrete tees that have a good sign bolted straight to the pad. I haven't seen signs that were installed like this before, and I like them because they seem a little bit more vandal proof. The blue rimmed DISCatchers were very nice. Holes 7 and 9 share the same basket.

All of the holes are pretty short, 1 and 2 are probably the hardest lines to hit. The first hole and course map are under the water tower on the West side of the park. Layout is par 23 with four par 2 holes.

Hole 3 and 4 can be dangerous if you get too far right, the edge of the park slopes down and has trees that make for a tough recovery. Hole 5 has the parking lot for the fire station on the right side, behind a wall you have to walk around to reach the low side.

Hole 9 has a fair amount of trees that make you choose what side of the fairway to use.

Cons:

Not a challenging round, but it is in walking distance from my house so I'll play it once in a while. It can be done with a limited discs, and plays very quickly unless the park is busy. There are walking trails adjacent to many holes.

I'm not really into par 2 holes. I know they are very short, but I like getting a birdie without having to make a hole in one.

Other Thoughts:

A really cool community park with a disc golf course that is a fun 9 hole that is beginner friendly. There are a couple of good shots here and there. It's not a bad place to throw a few if you live nearby, but I don't think it merits a special visit otherwise.

I played this course twice using only a mid range. It took about 45 minutes. I scored a 26 and a 27 in misty wet weather.

Nice Little Rec Course Missing Holes Due To Construction! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 6, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Harmon and Santa Fe Parks have so many activities going on. There is a huge picnic pavilion, tennis courts, two pools complete with water slides, skate punk park, ball fields, children's play area. I'm surprised they even have room for the disc golf course.

The course should be a great little rec course. Unfortunately, the # 5 basket, all of # 6 and the # 7 tee pad have all been lost due to the construction of a new building. What's left here is just a fun recreational course. The tee pads are smaller concrete ones. The tee signs are interesting in that they are bolted down at the back of the concrete pads. The baskets are Discatchers. Distances range from 165' up to # 3's 320'. Speaking of # 3, it's an excellent hole for throwing rollers, nice grass and lots of low branches.

Cons:

Obviously, missing 2 1/2 holes from a 9 hole course is a big loss.

Rec distances and challenge.

Not a lot of shot shaping required. Also not many golf decisions needed.

I like the fact that little course remains simple without any alternate pads or basket locations.

Other Thoughts:

I really hope someone can up with an answer to relocate 5-6-7. This is a fun little course and you never want to lose any holes.

On a size note, the legendary Santa Fe trail actually passed through this park. The course information sheet says to look for the little historical markers. Little historical markers? Heck, I was too busy trying to figure out where the # 5 basket went.
