Good Start in a small space 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Awesome Baskets
-Good use of terrain (especially in this small park)
-Mix of open / wooded shots
-#4 shot over a fallen tree, #8 shot down toward the creek
-Water in play on #6 and #8

Cons:

-4 x 4 Post for a tee (looks like laminated sheets were stapled on them at one time)
-Confusing layout without map (crude one made and loaded)
-Walking path comes into play on #5, #7 and #8
-No benches / trashcans / facilities
-Shares park with a few workout stations

Other Thoughts:

Mammoth DGC is located on the east edge of University Park, IA (just east of Oskaloosa, IA). A quick nine hole play nestled in this small park along with some workout stations and the Mahaska Community Recreation Trail running through. The layout really uses the terrain well, moving uphill on #1, across the top on #2, Down to a basket tucked in an alcove on #3, shoot over a fallen tree and some brush to get out to #4. The long hole is #5 along the trail, #6 shoots down into the creek valley, #7 is back up and a dog leg right along the trail, #8 is a straight shot down to the creek and #9 finishes with an upshot back near the path. The use of the terrain was the interest (and higher rating) for me. Some better signage, concrete tee pads and a couple of benches / trashcans would really make this a great little course. A quick play, but I would play again, if in the area.
