Gem in the High Desert 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 16, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you have been looking for that gem in SOCAL that you haven't played yet, this is it! Mandos on 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10 and 18 making it a fairly challenging course for being in the open desert. Joshua trees and other desert fauna make up the rest of the obstacles. The wildflowers are in full bloom right now too! Hole #10 is 730' around the track with OB all the way around, 60' wide path making it very tough to score well (Par 4). #11 is over a small ridge to the north, making it a blind tee shot. #12 is downhill very long with the basket behind a bush. Large dirt berm barriers on #3 and #8 add to the complexity and difficulty. Update: Basket 13 has a 15' circle around it that is all OB. 18 is a QUAD mandatory not a "soccer goal" as others have stated, meaning it's a "picture frame". Come on out and play!

Cons:

Very windy and hot at times. You need to have a decent mixture of headwind and downwind discs. Take water all of the time (you're in the desert).

Other Thoughts:

Great course to grab an hour of pt time or just to get out and enjoy some time away from work (if you work on base). Good job Fernando Brown, Rick Hoffa, and the rest of the 95th FSS folks that made this happen. Side note: Outdoor Recreation on base has a great selection of plastic with the lowest prices in SoCal and NO SALES TAX! AND They carry LEGACY! Champ $12.75, Star $13.75, DX $7.50.
