I Love Throwing Downhill!

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 8, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Moose Hollow? Wolf Creek? Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Pick an animal or course name and stick to guys!

Moose Hollow errr Wolf Creek or whatever the name is plays down and around a large hill in an otherwise unused section of land. The first tee is actually behind the building in the first parking lot and plays towards the second parking lot. Tee signs and next tee on the baskets helps you find your way which is helpful because some of these require some searching.

There are not a lot of obstacles here but what it lacks in obstacles it makes up for makes up for in elevation and tons of it especially for a 9 hole course. You get some shorty down hill and some long downhill in the best hole on the course, number 6. Even the uphill holes were pretty fun which is weird because I'm not normally a fan of uphill throwing unless I get a top of the world shot out of it.

The design is quite good, the piece of land is not. I think the way they took advantage of the hills here and space is quite well done.

This area is beautiful. The views at the course and on the drive in from Ogden are breathtaking. There really is no bad day in the mountains.

Cons:

It's a mostly wide open course and suffers in challenging your bag because of it. You can basically throw however you want and still get to the basket in 1 throw most of the time and even bad drives are typically not punished making bogeys or worse mostly a putting issue or bad luck due to a rollaway or what have you.

The tee pads are barely findable and when you do find them you kind of wish you hadn't found them, I actually never found the tee pad for 2. They are rubber mats that are very small and lumpier than oatmeal. Some times they are even slanted uphill or downhill.

This mess is a place. I mean really the ground you walk on is uneven and the weeds that grow in the fairway are a foot to two feet tall. With little to no landmarks helping you spot where it landed it can be difficult to spot exactly where you landed even on shorter holes so spotter recommended indeed.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoy elevation I think it and tight lines and multiple fairways per hole are what I enjoy most about disc golf. If this course had no elevation it would be closer to a 0.5 rating but I actually enjoyed my round here despite all of the things wrong with the course. If I was close I would play this again and if I was a resort member I would play it every time I came up to spend time at the resort. You can do much better in Ogden but you can also do worse than here. That being said if you don't enjoy elevation changes are much as I do you should skip this.

Gorgeous surroundings, but not a good course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 15, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-The views! 360* panoramas of Ogden Valley and both mountain ranges on every hole.
-9 functioning baskets.
-The views.
-Hole # 6 is really fun. A 450' downhill bomber that finishes left behind some shrubs.
-Did I mention how awesome the views are?
-Safe layout. The designer did a great job of making sure the nearby populated areas (golf course driving range, parking lot, walking paths & condos) were in no danger of flying discs.

Cons:

-Other than Hole # 6, the remaining eight other holes are quite bland. Some elevation changes are nice, but with no mature trees (and only sparse shrubs and bushes) most of these holes are wide open for you to pick pretty much any line you want. No shot shaping abilities required.
-Tee pads are worn rubber and not level. They're also very small, as in "one step drive" small.
-The course grounds are in really bad shape. It's a field of unkempt weeds that are already starting to grow a bit out of hand, even though it's early in the season. I'd assume this course becomes nearly unplayable in the summer. While the rest of Wolf Creek Resort is immaculately maintained, the chunk of land used for disc golf looks nothing like the rest of the property.
-Probably related to the unkempt grounds, this place is snake central. I spotted three snakes in my short 9 hole round. Once the weeds grow any taller, those snakes are going to be very difficult to spot.
-Only 9 holes, over half of which are very short. Combine that with the wide open lines, and it would make for a dull round even if the course was in better shape.

Other Thoughts:

This might be the most disappointed I've ever been in a disc golf course. I've played quite a few courses with similar ratings (3.25 stars prior to my review) in a variety of states, and this is absolutely nowhere close to a 3.25 star course. It's short, bland, and not maintained.

Eden, UT is a beautiful little mountain town, and if you're up in the area it's probably worth stopping by with a putter for a one disc round. But I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to play this course.

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Quality 9 hole course. Good use of elevation and terrain. Worthy of a stop.

A good mix of long/short, and technical/open.

Cons:

Only 9 holes. Can be hot, dry, and a bit weedy mid summer.

Other Thoughts:

All around a fun little course. Definitely worth a stop.
