My Three Pros:
-The course is bounded by a nearby river that's busy with huge shipping ships on one side and a tall marshy swamp area on the other side. Add to that the gulf is visible from the parking lot along with a very scenic bridge in the distance all making for a uniquely scenic course. The baskets are worn from the hurricanes but all standing and catching, some with vines and plants growing up through the baskets.
-The course is somewhat remote and doesnt get much traffic at all so you will likely be the only one out there
-Mostly short, easy open holes to boost the confidence but also a couple long par 4's to add some variety. Alot of shots were FH friendly but it really depends on where you choose to drive from as the tee area isnt well defined.

My three cons:
-As most others stated- the mosquitos are still kings here. I saw more mosquitos than ever before in my life and they are relentless. With that said, i just kept moving and they were a minor annoyance.
-The course flow is not ideal. You will need the online map. Although there are signs for all the tees, and baskets for each hole, many are visible throughout the round making it tricky to be sure where you're throwing.
-The course gets such little play the tee pads are not even worn in so its a total guess where to throw from relative to the tee and it can be tricky finding a nice flat spot.

The course had been recently mowed and looked pristine on a beautiful windless day when i played. I expected high winds based on the other reviews but had almost none when i played. The ships passing nearby were fascinating and the course has a really cool feel that is worth visiting to experience. This course just needs a little work and the navigation and tee problems could be solved. There are portapotties at the park next door, a convenient store down the road and a pavillion on site from which you can see the bay.
Also, I found the silly posted pars a confidence boost. I guess a par 5 350' hole was typical in the 90's but is a far stretch from the bigboy courses these days, either way it was nice parking a drive on what was at one time a par 4 or 5 hole.

Not many people still play this course so there is no waiting on others. The wind and terrain make this course tough. The grass was not too long but deffinately not well groomed.

Did not see a map at the info board. The pictures at the tees are getting old and starting to fade. A few still have plexiglass on them which made them impossible to read as it was no longer able to see through. Hole #4 sign is down.

Mosquito spray is a must!!!

Yes the mousquitos rule the island. HOWEVER, if you go when it is cold or windy, you can get a decent experience here. I went on a windy day and had little to no problems at all. The locals, said this was rare and that they wear lots of clothes and use lots of bug spray when coming here. This course has a few trees, lots of wide open holes, some OB, and fair elevation. This course is far enough away from most populations, that it should never really be that busy. The message board does have a map on it and it was really helpful. It was a real trip getting ready to putt and then all of a sudden I giant ship started floating into my view. I posted a picture of this in the courses pictures. I was like, is this the Day After Tomorrow? It is pretty cool that you are playing on an island. They do have a shelter with a pinic area on the course. I do think it is cool that this park is fenced in and set up just for Disc Golf.

There are signs that help a lot but they are in really bad shape. The dirt/grass tee pads are not in the flattest conditions. The baskets are all funtional but are worn. It is obvious this course has been around since 1991 and that the hurricanes have done their number on this place. All the refuge is cleaned up, but keep that in mind when coming here. We are probably not seeing what the course creator intended today. (sad thought I know) Also, plan ahead, as there are no bathrooms at the location and nothing very close by.

The Fun Factor was not what I expected from an island course. This is basically your average open course. The trees and elevation that are there, does give it some flavor, but it was not enough to make me want to play a second round. One thing for sure, if you happen to play here, you will now be able to say that you have played on an island. BTW, make sure you get your wooden nickle with that.

Great scenery next to Port Arthur Port on the Gulf of Mexico looking at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Bridge. Course is by itself and there's no reason for anyone to get in your way unless it's another Disc Golfer. Good hole layout and works well with the elevation changes. Being next to the Gulf, there was a constant breeze the whole time which adds a challenge to the course.

Grass isn't taken care of to well. It was almost like a pasture. The tee signs need cleaning. There are a lot of misquitos next to the water there. There are also some craters where the tee boxes are supposed to be. I think they removed a tree stump maybe. There are also no restrooms on the course, you may need to drive to the park nearby.

BRING BUG SPRAY!

This course is a good play and I can see the potential in the course if it would get fixed up a little bit.
