Recreational Course Designed for the student campers. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are nine tee signs with distance (and a virtual map) and nine baskets in great shape.

There is a map of the course on the side of the public bathroom/shelter area.

Holes varied from 160ft-340ft.

Needed both forehand and backhand drives.

Cons:

No tee pads.

Parking is extremely limited and virtually unavailable.

A trailer was parked blocking the tee sign to hole one, and hole two was surrounded in a pile of firewood.

No trash cans in sight.

Other Thoughts:

This is in a 'private' area. It feels like it was designed for the student campers who stay at this retreat center. Public was welcome (according to the sign on the bathroom) but you felt a little out of place, especially when there were no visitor parking spots.

I was confused on the drive up, as I saw holes 5-9 on the city block, but couldn't locate the beginning of the course for a few minutes. It is located 2 miles NE of that block of holes, which the map explains and shows by hole one, but by the time you find that map, you already saw the course layout while you were on your search.

Nice little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 7, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good design for the little area they had to deal with. Lots of mature oak trees to navigate around. Hole #2 is a fun righty technical forehand hole. Short, easy course - good for beginning players. Wise placement of baskets next to OB roads to build in some risk/reward. Everything is mowed.

Navigability/signage/maps: Excellent - once you locate the first tee. It's a property owned by a religious organization so check in with the front office to get permission to play. No maps but scorecards are available. Very friendly on-site staff.

Cons:

Short course - the longest hole is 260' but it serves a purpose for beginners or for advanced players who want to work on their short game. I gave it a 2.0 because it's a very nice recreational course which I think is important for our youth.

Other Thoughts:

I was pleased to throw in an hyzer ace on hole #7, a 220' hole - was trying to avoid going OB with the road close behind it.

Remember the Disc Golfer's Code:

1) Play Smart - Never throw into a blind area or when players, spectators, pedestrians, or other facility users are within range. Use a spotter.

2) Respect the Course - Observe all posted rules. No littering, graffiti, or abuse of equipment or flora.

3) Represent the Sport - Be positive and responsible. Teach others
