Small Town Park Course

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 28, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Baskets OK
-Concrete Tees
-Pond comes in to play on 2 holes

Cons:

-Short, a few trees to work around
-Walking path in play on most holes
-DGA Peel N Stick (TM) Signage

Other Thoughts:

Sportsman's Park hosts a reasonable DGC on the east side of Laurens, IA. Holes are relatively short, none crack 300'. Works around the inner part of the park, staying away from most activities other than the walking paths. Paths are in play on almost every hole, so watch for others on your tee. The only blind shots are #3 (around to the left of the tree line) and #6 (up and over a small ridge). There are a few trees to work around, but with no mandos, there are lines to work around for just about anyone. The pond gives a little interest, over it for #2 and along the right for #8 (over if you swing wide to the right). A reasonable course for a small town park. Signage is the old DGA Peel N Stick (TM). Concrete tees are decent. Would be a good place to practice your short game. I wouldn't go way out of my way for it, but I would play again, if in the area.

Suprising Find 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 3, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Concrete Tee Pads

-Signs Marking Hole, Obstacles, Distance and Par

-Brand New Baskets On Course (DGA Maybe Mach 5)

-Water Hazard On Hole # 2 Great!

-Course Keeps Mostly To Itself and Doesn't Really Intrude On Playground Equipment...etc.

-Course Starts Where It Ends

-Restrooms On Hole # 7

-Hill On Hole #6

-Fun Brush Obstacles to Throw Over

Cons:

-All Holes Are 200-300 Ft. Not A Single 400 or Long Distance.

-Pars are a Little Forgiving. Holes 2 and 5 are generous at Par 3 and should probably truly be Par 2.

-It seemed to me the signs were not perfect, but better than some I have seen. They were also placed on the Tee Pad, and would be better off of the Tee for those needing more room when throwing.

-Tee on Hole 6 was not in line with fairway and when I saw the sign was confused on where to throw since it is up a hill.

Other Thoughts:

This course was a nice find to a local. It does well for the area of the park. It is worth playing if you are in the area.
