Open with Some Variety 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Though there wasn't much to work with at this school, someone familiar with the sport laid out these 8 baskets to make a great warm-up course.

-Variety: This property is really flat and really open, so I wasn't expecting much when I got out of the car. However, there is an impressive variety of shots required utilizing all the features of the property. This includes a 550' hole, some longer and shorter options, throws with parking lot OB, and guardian trees.

-Shot Shaping: Definitely some boring straight holes, but also some nice holes like (5) and (6) that play over or around trees, (1) and (8) that are doglegs, and (2) and (3) with some sparse fairway trees. The final three are the most dinky, and even those have respectable length (at least 215').

Cons:

-Amenities: No tees. They really need some posts to mark the natural tees. Baskets are Mach II's, not the finest. Nothing besides these chains.

-Openness: There's virtually no variety to work with here. Flat and open is the name of the game.

-Playability: Obviously unplayable with school in session, especially since there are parking lots. Also be careful if playing when others are around, since baskets are close to tees and (6) and (7) share a basket.

-Navigation: Literally impossible without UDisc since no tees are marked.

-Disc Loss/Safety: Remarkable pertinent for a nine-holer. Property lines in play on (1) and (2), roads on (3) and (4), and parking lots on all the other holes.

Other Thoughts:

Success HS would make a great course for a warm-up round or fieldwork. There's reasonable length, some OB, and obstacles to create basic challenge. The lack of tees is a major knock, and keeps it at Passable.

High School Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 28, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good baskets
Good flow if you use the map to find your way

Cons:

no tee signs or anything for that matter marking where to tee off from.
No really any tree's on most of the holes

Other Thoughts:

This is a high school course, it is not meant for anything other than rec play by the high school kids.

With that taken into consideration, MARK THE TEEs so the kids can find the tee's. I would also move the baskets away from the fences as some are just too close and errant throws from rec players will be lost.

I parked next to hole 7's basket and started on hole 8. The 9 hole course winds around the school and tries to use the few tree's and natural layout of the grounds.

Right now there is a fenced in area used by the road construction crew on #4's fairway. It adds to the hole and makes it tougher.

Unless you are like me and collect courses played, there is no reason to play this course. But it is a good place to work on a few things, hole #2 is next to a practice football/soccer field, good place to practice some drives.

Would I play here again?

Nope

More like Failure 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 16, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are baskets!

Cons:

No tees or signage of any type so you have to use the online map and even with those you're just guessing as to where the tees are. The bigger issue is that many of the baskets are right near fences and any errant throw can yield OB. No trees so you're basically just throwing across open fields. Additionally the grass and weeds on holes 1-4 were anything from shin to hips high.

Other Thoughts:

Honestly it's probably fine for PE or something but it's definitely not something to search out to play. It was just one to knock off the list but honestly I would have been fine just skipping it.

rough but good practice 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 25, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

-baskets are in good condition
-lots of room to practice driving
-simple layout that is easy to follow if you use the map

Cons:

-tees are natural and there are no signs, there are some markers in the form of a single brick or a rock or two flush with the ground
-very hard to navigate if you haven't looked at the map
-few obstacles other than a couple trees and the wind

Other Thoughts:

This course is a decent play to practice or get in a quick round but you really need to look at the map before playing. Otherwise you'll have no idea where to start, where to tee, or where to go as there is no signage on the course.

Hole 2 is pretty long so you can open up on that one. Hole 5 has a few trees, a drainage ditch, and the basket is on a slight incline. Hole 8 throws around the parking lot. I thought that a better option for that last two holes would be to throw from between the two trees next to basket 7 to basket 9 (as hole 8) and then from somewhere around basket 9 to basket 8 (as hole 9). If I lived nearby and practiced here I would probably play it that way. Playing the course backward could be interesting too.

Not much reason to play here unless you live in the neighborhood as there are much better course that aren't that far away. Course baggers only.

Simple practice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 24, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lots of fairways to practice some longer throws (by beginner standards).
When properly mowed the terrain is easy.
Good practice course for beginners or for putting.

Cons:

No tee boxes.
No course guide anywhere.
No real obstacles, aside from a few trees and a slight ditch/culvert at hole 9.
If mowing isn't kept up the course is almost unplayable, especially with all the rain the area has been getting the last few months.

Other Thoughts:

Location of baskets:
Hole 1 is located to the left of the school as you drive in, between the football/soccer field and the fence.
Hole 2 is near where the neighborhood fence ends at Gattis School Rd.
Hole 3 is at the Success High School sign.
Hole 4 is to the right of the school as you drive in, by the fence to the apartment complex.
Hole 5 is near the playground.
Hole 6 is straight out from Hole 5, but is at the road behind the school, across from the elementary school's field (you actually pass Hole 7 getting to Hole 6).
Hole 7 is near the parking lot behind the school.
Hole 8 is across the driveway from Hole 7 but near the school, toward the fenced off drainage ditch area.
Hole 9 is across the small ditch/culvert.
