Pros:

Village Greens park is home to a nice, beginner friendly 18 hole course. The section of the park the course is on features a couple slight undulations in elevation throughout. The course is essentially wide open with a few small trees scattered about. Holes 14 and 15 play over the wooded area along the creek that runs through the course.

The tee pads are nice and level concrete ones. These aren't the biggest ones you'll ever see but they're plenty long enough for a course like this. No complaints with these. One tee per hole.

The tee signs are well done here. These are mounted on big wood posts about 3' high. The signs themselves feature a pretty simple but effective course map, hole #, par and distance. Very basic but it's all the info needed out here. There's a next tee arrow on each sign too which is probably the most useful aspect of these.

The course features a few par 4's. These are on the shorter side but do add a little more length in a couple spots.

The flow from hole to hole is pretty simple, even if you forget to check the tee sign. Probably obvious to figure out. It helps that there's no long walks between holes too.

There's pretty much zero chance you'll lose a disc out here. By the creek is about the only place, and even then it'd be hard to do.

There's a number of garbage cans throughout the course and most of the holes had logs behind the tees serving as benches. The course was surprisingly clean as well. Permanent and free to play.

Cons:

The baskets are on the older side. They're also Mach's so they don't catch very well. Or not as good as most newer models on the market.

There's nothing in the way on almost every hole. On top of that the distances are all pretty similar. Very repetitive feeling course by the time you get to hole 5 or 6. And you know it's not going to get much better since you can literally see the entire course from most of the holes.

The biggest con here is the poor design as far as the proximity of the tees to the prior basket. Way too close in many spots. I guarantee people get hit with errant drives out here. There's two mandos out here to combat this but that does nothing about what I listed above.

Very busy course during peak hours at least. There had to be a group or person on at least 12 of the 18 holes today. Best to play during non peak hours if you want to get a quick round in. Judging by the pictures I figured it'd take us 45 minutes or so to play after flying into town. Nope, over an hour and a half, most of which was just waiting on backup after backup.

Other Thoughts:

Nice place for beginners but not much for replay value if you're more experienced. It's clearly pretty popular though, so what do I know. Worth a play if you're nearby I guess.

Lots of weeds. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 29, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-It's conveniently located and easy to find the first tee.
-There is a wide range of lengths of the holes.
-There are a few good obstacles. The trees have grown a lot and there are a lot of good hills.
-Great tee pads.
-It's easy to navigate the tees and pins due to the fairways.

Cons:

-There are sooo much weeds in the summer. When I went last with my dad and a friend we spent 10 minutes searching for all of our discs after our first throw on the first hole in at least knee-high weeds, getting stickers all over our shoes that poked into our socks. We also were slowed down by other people looking for their discs. I am not sure if they mowed it since then but if you go to this course and see 2ft.-high weeds on the left and right of the fairway on the first hole, just leave, because without someone to spot your throws and where they land, your almost bound to lose a disc.

Other Thoughts:

But if everything is mowed when you go, you'll have a lot of fun!
In the colder months, all of the plants are dead and not overgrown, and when I went there about a year-and-a-half ago, my dad and I had a blast. I think this course is probably the best in the metro area east of the I-225...when most of the weeds are gone.

Village Greens is Brown 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 10, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Sweet painted rocks for tee signs, Unique and helpful.
+Nice baskets
+Nice concrete tees
+Variations in length
+Creek comes into play on a few holes
+They have planted trees, hopefully they grow and add challenge. More trees could definitely be planted.
+Pretty easy to find your way around this course. Logical flow.
+Other things to do at this park without getting in the way of disc golf. I wish I had brought my mountain bike as there is a trail around the outside of the park.

Cons:

-Very open
-Very flat
-Very dry, dusty, windy. Only some very hardy prairie grass survives. That stuff could eat a disc if you don't pay attention but it isn't too thick.
-It was very repetitive. There is some distance variation but not much else. For me, it was a reasonably long drive on a mild hyzer line then putting out on shorter holes or a short, open approach before holing out on the few long ones.

Other Thoughts:

-This course is new and could improve. With growth in the quantity and quality of trees, this course could become more fun and challenging.
-This is a nice park that they have clearly put money and time into. They did everything right but the park just isn't good for disc golf. It is similar to many parks in the Denver Metro area in that regard.
-I wouldn't recommend this course if you had to go out of your way but it isn't worth much of a drive.

Location, Location, Location 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 4, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is near the intersection of I-25 and I-225. This is a really nice part of town and the city spent a lot of money to install the course. I hope more trees or grass will be planted. Navigation is easy because there is nothing growing between the baskets and the next tee pad. At the tee pad there is a carved rock with the layout of the hole. How much money did they spend on carving and coloring 18 rocks? The picture on the rock shows exactly how to throw to the pin. 15 of the holes are reachable in one so if you are in need of target practice this is this course for you.

Cons:

The course itself. This is a simple beginner's course.
The tee pads are short, but you can run up from the dirt.
The trees are young and sparse and sadly could get destroyed before they get to a decent size (i.e. Expo). At least, the trees are often by the tee pad or basket.
I could go hole by hole, but aside from distance they are all the same.
There are a few older trees in the park, but they are not part of the course.
If you lose a disc here then it could only be on 14 or 15 where there is a tiny creek (It will be rough in the summer).
The longest holes are approx. 445 and if you can rip it then you can reach all of the holes.
There will most likely be one tee pad and one hole placement for each hole unless they are going to recarve the rocks.

Other Thoughts:

I waited since December for this course and it slightly disappointed me. It is no different than Expo, Lighthouse, or Green Valley Ranch. It does have more potential than all of those courses if more trees are planted. I am sure people tried hard to get a course in Cherry Creek State Park and settled for this site. The course seems to be still under construction and I am hopeful the course will continue to improve. I have yet to see more than one group on the course even on the weekend.

New Course With Potential 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 23, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice brand-new DGA baskets with the number on the top of each basket.
-Nice concrete tee-pads that are a decent length
-Other than two spots, the flow of the course is pretty easy to follow and you will rarely have trouble finding the next tee-pad.
- There is a decent amount of elevation change on the course (there's no dramatic elevation change but it's still nice to have some elevation change especially with how wide open this course is)
-There is a small stream that comes into play on a few holes on the back nine.
-This course has some of the coolest tee-signs I have ever seen. They are carved into rocks, and tell the par, show the layout of the hole, and show the distance of each hole.
-There is a decent variety of hole lengths, with holes ranging from about 225 to 445.
-There is a sign at the beginning course that has a map and information about the course and disc golf in general.
-The course is in a part of the park that is not used by other park areas so there is no conflict with other park users.
-Good course to just let discs rip if you like wide open holes.

Cons:

-As stated above, the course is very wide open without very many obstacles.
-The creek on the back nine was really overgrown even in the winter and could be a prime spot to lose a disc.
-Since the course is very wide open, you aren't forced to use a wide variety of shots, on most of the holes you can throw a straight shot and get pretty close to the basket.
-Since the course doesn't require a variety of shots, it can get a little repetitive.
-With the space available, and lack of obstacles, I would have liked to have seen a hole over 500 feet or a little longer.
-There are two instances on the course where navigation can be a little tricky. On hole 8, it is easy to think you should be throwing to the basket for hole 18. The basket to throw to is the one you can see to your right from the tee-pad. Then on hole 12 go to your left rather than the tee-pad to your right that is for hole 15.
-Though the rest of the course is quite wide open, I feel like hole 17 and 18 were very uninspired as they were about 250 ft, wide open, straight shots. It didn't feel like a good way to end the course.
-None of the holes are very memorable.

Other Thoughts:

-It's nice to have another course in Denver, but its a shame that this course is so wide open. From the nice baskets and the awesome tee-signs, you can tell there was a decent amount of care put into building this course, it's just a shame they didn't have better piece of land for this course. In a few years when some more trees grow in, this course will get more interesting but for now it is not a destination course.
