Movement in top 10

Anybody know of any issues at harmony bends this week? We should be there Tuesday morning

i played northwoods black

for the front 9 i was thinking that wow this is a perfect course and i was anxious with anticipation

then it all fell apart

the death march to hole 10 which is seemingly an "open" style hole however its deceiving cuz it has a low ceiling

add in 3 moar long walks and a scum pond and a hole with a putting distraction (people from the next hole playing and walking)

lastly the attention to detail has a big miss although its a "black" course there are yellow baskets and the signs have the graphic baskets as mostly orange this seems trivial but the miss on color coordination just slowly annoyed me

on a bell curve its a 5 but a 4.5 on here

its now in my personal top 10

side note megiddo was absolutely a blast to play

^Northwood black is definitely a beat down. So tough and such a hike. I think hole ten is where I got lost. Is that where black and blue overlap (or at least play right next to each other)?

I loved that course and hated my game. It's in that group with Idlewild and a few others that I didn't review because I was playing so far over my head skill level wise.

Agreed Megiddo is great. Best to play during the dry season like you did though. All those dirt slopes are treacherous in the spring.

the signage cleared things up pretty well and yes thats goin past blue and the cemetery

i loved the course and its well beyond my skill level

i lulz at the idea of megiddo in the winter

Megiddo is fantastic. Absolutely loved that course.

In the winter though? That'd be um... interesting to say the least.

Another 5 disc rating for Eagle's Crossing. 5 for 5 now on perfect ratings.

Lake Arvesta on the other hand. 4.5 and 2.5 within the last few weeks. Seems like a love it or kind of like it course at this stage. Just interesting seeing both are still a work in progress. I've played neither so I have no opinion.

To be clear, I didn't love Lake Arvesta, it simply graded out to a 4.5 using my standard course rating rubric. It compared favorably against some of the other "championship courses" I've played.

I usually don't care one whit about tee pads unless they severely impact a round, and as long as I can find where I'm going signage is adequate. I don't need to have people pour tee pads and put signs in for me to see the layout is, objectively, very good. Not best of the best, but very good.

Also note I'm not a very good player, certainly not the target player, yet I enjoyed the discing, made all the water carries (just barely on the last one), etc.

But the vibe, overall, left something to be desired.

thats fair

i suppose now i can let go of some of the resentment

Another 5-disc review of Caliber pushes it past Harmony Bends to the #1 spot!
Is this the first time Caliber has reached #1?
yep.
been waiting for a couple weeks for this to happen (sitting tied w/hb).
disc feind is sus cuz it looks as if they just signed up to review caliber.
under their review taken out of context: cons "...Super nice folks running this place!" :\

I did notice the single review and recent signup date, etc. But it's unquestionably a helpful review IMO. I thumbed it up.

No worse than this recent review of a separate course by (apparently) the course designer - which I also thumbed up.

Congrats Caliber!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I just browsed thru pictures (and those were from 2020), and the course does look the part. What I think I would really like is you will be punished for getting off the fairway, but that tall pine tree 'rough' just won't be getting you cut and gnarled and I bet disc loss is quite low. My kind of rough--you pay for it with strokes, not blood or plastic.

Will be a while before I can out there, but definitely on my someday list...
