2) you pay the shipping

There is a third option, since Nate will have to pay shipping on his package coming this way, maybe you can match him up with someone who would volunteer to ship his way. UPS shipping is about $60.

I just thought of a forth option: Nate can order discs from a US online disc store and have them shipped to his guy and whoever gets Nate can order from Down Under Disc's and have them shipped to him. He will not get any cool local swag, but it could work.

I can't afford to spend $60 on shipping but since there are 100 of us in this now if 30 or 40 of us each paypal'd $1 to whoever gets him as a partner it would defray the costs. I'd donate or be happy to ship if helped with the cost.
