So, I've been avoiding the river like syphillis for a year.

So today I went down to my local play it again to pick up some new latitude plastic, They ended up having only 4 pieces, So I cleaned them out.

This river is stupid sexy opaque pink, with a green stamp. Opto 168.

Problem is, I can't throw it. I just throw it into the sky every time.

I throw my speed 11, 12, and 13's pretty decent. Can hit lines pretty consistent with between 350 and 400 or more for distance. but this river... this river just wants to go to the sky.

What am I doing wrong? Would overpowering a speed 7 cause this? I honestly feel like I'm releasing it flat.

help me figure out this river. I'm not ready to give up on it :wall:

You know what? I had the same problem with my Rivers today. I blame Tuesday.

In all seriousness, it can be a bit touchy, but keep at it. When you dial it in, the River is a blast to throw.

Damn Tuesday. Better get it figured out by Wednesday, I got weeklies to try and win.

My River just got chewed on by a dog today. If you wanna get rid of that thing ever. Let me know. I love pink plastic! :)

I've been getting some great S curves out of my River...even after the dog had a go at it.

Its you not the disc. Rivers for me like low ceilings and fly straight with a little turn and little fade. If its going up in the air its because you are throwing it there.

Now... While this is probably the most likely answer, I was hoping to avoid this answer. I guess I just need to slow down with it, and make sure I'm getting it nose down.

I do like the idea of a low ceiling disc, as there is a lot of low hanging oak at the course I usually play.

I'm not ready to give up on it yet, but I'll consider this a dibs if I ever do decide to get rid of it.

Right on...mine is the TM1 Pink with Green Stamp.

I really haven't thrown it enough to get a feel for exactly how it flies. Good luck trying to hone it in. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

My 170 GL river doesn't like to be thrown at full power. Try to power it down a little and let the disc do the work.

The River rewards smoothness, start with that and then you can add power once you've got it figured.

You need to have the nose.farther down for a river compared to most drivers, at least how.it works for.my.pink opto at 169g

This is what I was thinking, I was looking at the rim, and it seems to be some freaky marriage between a driver and mid. Must be nose down more. Will give it some time in the field tomorrow and see if I can't get it to be sexy for me.

I love the River, but it seems pretty nose angle sensitive to me. When I throw well, it glides forever. For me that is usually on a low line. I have trouble with nose down, higher throws. Just my issue in life. Once you dial it in, it is money.

Will just have to keep working with it. Feels good in the hand, just watching it climb oak trees every time I throw it is getting frustrating.

I love my River. I've only recently started playing, and it's definitely my farthest flying disc. Frequently I release it low and it just glides forever just a few feet off the ground.

Just keep working on it. I can't get anything out of my River yet either, but I haven't given up on it. I think I've been releasing mine with too much hyzer on it, or else I let it loose a tiny bit late and it glides right for about a day and a half. I'm still confident that it will become a dear friend once I learn it though.
