What is a good age to start disc golf? I'm a freshman in highschool and started this summer. R.I.P summer of 2012. It wasn't wasted though because of disc golf. Back to the question. Do you think 14 is to young or start younger?

I am glad I started now at 14 because I get a head start. I plan to play throughout my life because it is an amazing game and I am starting to get good at it. But I thought if I started earlier I don't think I would like it like I do now because it was hard for me anyways to start at 14. It took me a while to get into it but I did it and am glad. Now I am getting my friends into it so looks like disc golf is becoming more popular in the younger ages.

When I have kids, I plan on stopping by the disc golf course on the way home from the hospital (gonna have to find a way to convince my fiance (wife) of that when that time comes...). If taught correct form from the get-go, I see no negative that could come from starting disc golf at a very young age.

14 is a good age I think. Nothing wrong with earlier, but at 14 or so your body is fairly developed and you have better fine motor skills and muscle memory. Go for it man. Wish I had started at that age rather than 21.

Yeah thanks I think it was the perfect age for me

I don't think there is anything that constitutes the best age to start. My buddies three year old can putt like nobodies business. He's even got correct form. So long as the person enjoys themselves, there is never a too young or too old to start category. Welcome to the world of disc golf, hope you stay addicted for life.

Age is just a number. IMHO, its a question about maturity and integrity.

We know old guys that act like 2 year olds. (no disrespect to any 2 year olds)

Conversely I had the unique pleasure of getting a severe beat down from a 15 year old that bombs 400'+, never three putts, and handles his game with a humbled swagger that warrants further admiration and respect.

He could be the antichrist. And in a way, I'm okay with that.

If you can walk, you can play. And I've seen one course in TN with paths for wheelchairs. Play early, and often.

I started playing at 33 and have been hooked since the first round. My son has been playing since he was 5, and my nephew 7. Correct answer: Any age is perfect for this great sport! :D:clap::D:clap:

im the same age as you and love the sport. i just wish a could BH over 300' and FH over 325'. But know ing that im only 5'5 and can throw 300' fh and 250bh im very happy with my skill at the moment

The earlier the better! I started at 22 and wish I knew about it sooner!

My nephew started playing full rounds with us at 3 years old. He is now Youtube famous, lol. He is now 5 and getting really good.
My son took 6th place in Men's Adv. during a 2 day tourney with 105 players at the age of 14.
So I'd say any age is a good age to start. However I think teens to mid twenties are good times to start most things as your body is made to learn and absorb things at this age.

I started 33 years ago at age 17. Then, I stopped for 31 years while college, work, family, collegiate sports, moving, etc got in the way and i forgot about the sport. The trick is to keep playing through all of the obstacles and priorities life throws in your way. I'm back on the course and so freaking happy!

I will start my daughter on putting games as early on as possible. She will have no idea that disc golf courses exist until she is closer to ten.

When I do start her it will be completely different than when I started at age 6. I had absolutely no concept of disc golf form, my dad being a freestyler. Freestyle form used over 18 years really has stunted my ability.

My son is 4 and bangs 25' putts on a regular basiss. See avatar above.

im 17 years old i just started last year i think if you have friends that are around the same age and skill when you start you will just keep pushing each other and keep on playing the sport

I say start them as young as possible, have the wife start singing disc golf ditties when the baby is still in the womb.
Use a good quality mini when the child is teething.
Babies first Aviar should come around the first birthday, even if they only use it as a platebee to hold loose Cheerios.

The teething thing is gold!! I do this with my youngest who is one. Its the only thing he will chomp on.
