Good overstable putter

Disagree that overstable putters are utility only. They work just fine for putting

I agree. I don't get out the ProD Zone often but in super windy days it's nice to putt with. Cuts through a headwind with the low profile and stays straight to the chains.

I like a Wizard or Opto Pure for driving with. FLX Challengers are nice too.

A buddy of mine is a big time torque monkey and I've been trying to get him to drive with his putter to show how bad his form is. He throws it, turns into a roller, then he tells me "yeah that's stupid I'm not driving with a putter that will screw up my form" I just laughed and went about my day. He'll peak out his game one day and learn to throw properly. Just won't be today.

I hardly ever drive with putters...but when I do, I use the Pig.

I'm certainly in the minority here but Warlock is my choice for an OS driving putter....
I don't care for a bead on my putters and the Aviar P&A just wasn't for me.

I picked up a really stiff HPP Wizard that is great for windy putting and driving.

I like my champ tank for a driving putter, but it's not easy to find those (only 9 made...... ever), otherwise I do like the rhynos, and as of lately, I've been liking MVP. I was resisting MVP for the longest time, thinking that it was just a gimmick, but I must say, I've been VERY impressed with them since I let my guard down. I also have a few buddies that drive with their Omega SS and APX's, and I've seen a few aces with each of them.

I'm gonna have to agree with discspeed here. If you are looking for a putter that is overstable enough to use off the tee, but still able to work lines with, you can't do much better than an Ion, I would recommend a S.

I know Wizards are good off the tee as well and heard alot of people talking about Opto Pures.

I wouldn't recommend Zone etc unless you are looking more for overstable utility shots.

I made the original comment about fast/overstable putters being best for utility, but I was only talking about driving. Any blunt edged disc can work for putting if you get used to it, so feel is most important. Driving shows the differences between putters much more.

I've not thrown an Opto Pure yet...The earlier versions seemed to fade laterally more than most putters (reminded me of a mini Buzzz) rather than dropping straight. I like putters that glide and drop straight down more than laterally at the end of their flight because they run the basket better.

The OP is looking for a driving putter. Coming from a Magnet, I would not recommend throwing something on the complete other end of the stability spectrum. Chances are he'd lose a lot of distance due to fade (personally, I'm not entirely convinced he needs anything other than some work on his form). I never said they couldn't be used effectively as putters.

Tanks for all the responses guys I really appreciate it. I spouse I shoulda been a bit more specific with conditions and what not. I usually only throw my crosshair off the tee and it usually has a small amount of fade but not much. It's starting to get windier where I am which was making the crosshair flip like crazy. I went ahead and picked up an ion and a zone since people said the ion was pretty versatile and the zone is really over stable. Thanks again guys.

I agree the big bead aviar, wizard, and challenger are great driving putters that can handle a little headwind. I find the wizard goes further than the others for some reason.

In really windy conditions, though, it's hard to beat a rhyno. The star and champ rhynos are quite overstable. The rpro rhynos make good straight control drivers for me, but handle wind better than the other, non-rhyno discs mentioned.

I found the zone to be way too overstable for me. It just hyzers out short.

Rhynos and Ridges are my go-to putters for sure. I keep an XG in the bag at all times (not floppy like some Ive seen...just really grippy) but I have plenty of back ups, Champs, DXs and R-Pros. Any plastic will handle the wind better than almost any other putter...definetly better than and putter Ive tried.

Ive driven with Rhynos and the definetly handle a headwind. You can even zip them pretty well forehand. Id pick up a DX one for cheap and see if you like it, then try an R-Pro or Champion if you like it.

FYI - my DX Rhyno (170, /w flight numbers, so likely recent/most recent run) is really flat and stiff. Great for windy conditions.

I like a soft Ion for this role. Overstable enough to fight some headwind and always have a reliable fade, but enough glide that you never have to muscle it out there for good D.

How overstable do you want? There's Ion / Wizard / bb Aviar overstable and then stuff likeVP's and Zones that are more meathooks.

Jokeri. Premium version is as good a plastic that is put there, and their base plastic is very grippy. Get one of each. The base will beat into something a little straighter and longer.
