Piney Woods Open: November 10-11, 2012 @ Lindsey Park in Tyler, TX

I said I wouldn't come back after the locals jacked up the red course turning it into another blue course, but I think I'm getting drafted into going. :-\ I'm still mad they took the only good red course in the area with concrete tees and made it too hard for the average player. Lindsey park used to be a place to take the family, but now it's just for elites.

I did that last tournament, and I wasn't the only one complaining. They could fix it by putting some short concrete tees in on those long holes they made on the red course, but I don't think that's in the works, last I heard.

Dynamic Discs is changing the format today per requests.

They are at least switching Rec/Intermediate from what I understand.

Therefore, Intermediate would play Dogwood Shorts, Blue Longs, and Red Longs.

Rec would play Red course twice (shorts/longs?) and Blue once.

If you guys wanna see the Masters' divisions and Female divisions switched up then I would suggest emailing them asap. My main concern was with Intermediate not getting to play Dogwood, and Rec was being sent thru that course which seemed exactly backwards. I told 'em if they simply swapped those 2 divisions it would be greatly improved, and I got confirmation today that they are making changes.

Ok to be fair the last time I played Dogwood was like 2 years ago at Piney Woods. I guess the course was newish then? At the time, it looked like someone went in and put baskets and tee pads in random places. There were very few holes that had any kind of fairways. It was probably the furthest from being a fair course as I had ever seen. Its not that I don't like hard courses, I like Texas Army Trail, but it has actual fairways. Same thing with the Lake Nacogdoches course. When it was brand new there were fairways. And Cedar Hills at Jack Brooks. All 3 of those are difficult courses with a lot of trouble to get into if you get off the fairway. But there are fairways. At Dogwood there wasn't. I don't think there should be gold level courses where the best way to play the holes is throwing 200' rollers so when you hit you don't kick that far in.

With all that being said, I knew then that when the course got a little bit more mature and got broken in a bit more, it could be a fun, challenging course and I really do look forward to playing it again.

Definitely improved now, I think you would find it to be challenging but fair now. It got cleaned up in July for the WOTR tourney and I thought it was freakin' badass. Can't wait to get my revenge!

Looks like the flyer has been changed -- Pools B & C switched.

^^ click that guy's link above you, that is the updated flyer as of today. I think it's AWESOME.

I don't know the division initials for Adv Masters or I would just tell you.

NM, I figured it out. Advanced Masters will be the same killer format as Intermediate.

Saturday: Cedar/Red Longs, then Dogwood/Gold Shorts.
Sunday: Hickory/Blue Longs, then Final 9 for top 4.

Meaning you get to play every course, which means you'll get your $$ worth. A million thanks to the events guys at Dynamic Discs for listening to suggestions and improving the format!

Im coming home!

Hey Tyler crew! It's Harris and I'm already registered for Piney Woods! Can't wait to see you guys there. This will be the only tournament I get to play all year and I'm stoked. Farnham and Chrystom.....see you next Friday! Better bring it.
