Grip Mods...

Added some sharpie art. The red is more uniform IRL, the light makes it look splotchy, two coats did the trick. Also went a little "patch-happy": there is another monkey patch and a blue Roc patch on the other side. I think I am done messing with it for now. At least should not get mixed up on the course... :D

I blacked out the Grip Labels. Grip makes an excellent bag, but the newer labels on the A14 and C14 can be a bit much in my opinion. Especially the labels on the drink holders.

I was looking for a way to remove the silk screening altogether, but didn't want to deal with dry cleaning solvents. I used fresh ultra fine point and fine point sharpies. I was going to try paint markers, but sharpies on the silk screen print can still be removed with *rubbing alcohol.

*WARNING -I tried it, it leaves the white silk screen dull grayish afterwards (which I also liked as an option since my bag is the all gray color scheme and my goal was to tone down the huge label).

I've been making these paramummies. And I love the grip L series with the colored fabric. If anybody wants some paramummies send me a PM.

I had a friend take a piece of PVC pipe and put it on the side of his bag. He has a Lat 64 bag and he said that yesterday his bag kept tipping over due to it being top heavy. I am wanting to do something similar. Has any body done any kind of umbrella mod like that where is just stays on the bag and you don't have to worry about holding it?

That flag idea is sweet. Too bad, did mine 5 minutes ago in all red on a black bag. :wall: Time for a new bag. Hey nice work on that big hex logo on the front, i did red on the interior and left the outside white

Anyone know of anyone who is making/selling the clips that snap onto the rainfly snaps? I've searched, but seems like one seller is MIA and not much activity on another thread I've found. Thanks!

Seems you just posted in the MP thread I was going to link. I got two of those clips earlier this year and they're great. Hopefully, he's still doing them.

The snaps on the Grip bag seem pretty standard. Find friend with a Grip, and see if your Helix rainfly will snap on to their bag. The fly doesn't have to fit at all... as long as you can snap it onto the Grip, then the clips will fit.

The Grip and Helix snaps are NOT the same size. The grip clips I got on the MP do not fit my brother-in-law's Helix.

Good to know.

Love this... gotta do it...
Mine is the best grip mod, duh. So easy. Guess I should add a cool zipper pull, got one of those towel clips now from this thread too not shown.

I was thinking the same, but I may just end up buying a redesigned A14 rainfly, so I don't have to do any of that myself.

Plus, I can grab one for the C14 as well :)

 A story with a happy ending!

......not that kind of happy ending
