Why do you play disc golf?

I seek the zone. Being in total flow..you know the kind where time kinda stands still? That's the best.

So how about you?

Why do you play?

Never had it happen in disc golf. Have had a runners high and come out of it a mile down the road. Maybe you should try that.
I play for exercise and the quiet I find on the course most the time

Cheap sport that I can relax and play with friends or play a tourney/mini and get the competative juices flowing.

Old school frisbee tosser, just realized last year that disc golf was all that.

Plus, I like to get into flame wars and disc golf seems to have its fair share.

I played Ultimate for years but gave it up a few years back as I was slowing down. However I still loved getting out and throwing a disc. I also used to be a pretty big golfer (~20 rounds a year) but that died off once I had kids. A round of golf just takes up too much time.

Tried out disc golf last summer and it just clicked (not that I'm good yet but I really enjoyed it). I think it is the perfect mix of Ultimate and golf.

Also it being free to play and only taking an hour or so for a round helps a lot too!

I love going new places and disc golf is a great way for my wife and I to road trip and see cool new things.

I'm a cheap ex-jock. It's a marriage made in the discount isle. :|

hmmmm. very little expense. walk in the woods. a little exercise. the sound of chains registering a shot well made. what's not to like?

Because it's fun. If you answered any other way, you missed the point.
Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Time. I was a big ball golfer. But with family duties, I simply do not have the time. Disc golf with no tee times and 90 min rounds wins. No greens fees is an added bonus.

Here is a thread a while back on the same topic

I will give you the same answer, it hasn't changed:

To be crowned champion of all things disc golf of course. No really, the thrill of throwing that perfect shot, the pressure, the exercise, the comradery, the competition, the list goes on and on. But specifically, bag tags are always fun, even throwing down a couple bucks is fun. What I'm trying to say is, IT'S ALL FUN. I can't put my finger on one thing. Disc Golf is just the best sport in the history of sports. To choose one would be disrespectful to the game.

Fun. Exercise. Cost. Flexibility. Competition - though just in trying to beat my best rounds - not one for tourneys yet.

To give the finger to passing storm clouds.

Well, that's not why I play, but I actually did that at league Wednesday.

To tell you the truth, I just dont know. I love being outdoors, I need the exercise, enjoy meeting new people at tournaments. I even thought about stopping last year after being told that a local Pro was talking smack about me to other disc golfers saying that i suck and should quit disc golf. Since then I have improved, not to a pro level but i shaved 18 strokes off at a tournement i did last summer from the same tournament the year before. My best answer is I just love disc golf, and I'm a better person having it in my life.
