So now that the dust has settled more or less, who does everyone feel has benefitted and regressed from sponsorship changes the past couple seasons? I will start with regressed

Nikko Locastro, Gregg Barsby, Will Schusterick, Eric McCabe

Benefitted

Ricky Wysocki(he came into his own anyways so maybe it wouldn't matter if he was throwing lightning discs)

I don't think anyone rating has went up since joining prodigy on the male side of things. Everyone should of stayed where they were.

I would have to agree with your assessment. McCabe will come back strong I think, I just think he's comfortable where he is at right now. He is more of an advocator to the sport and not so much focusing on his play it seems like, just my two cents. Will seems like the real casualty of brand switching though, crazy how much he dropped off. Prodigy must have thrown a lot of money around

It will be interesting to see how JohnE fits into this question in a year or so with his new deal with Salient. Although, I only imagine he will stay the same or get a little better since he can still throw all of his old discs.

McCabe has also been having headaches/migraines off and on ... plus some other health issues over the past couple of seasons? (broken foot or wrist or something? might totally be making that up, can't remember)

He broke his hand back in 09', but wouldn't say that contributed to much since he turned around and became world champion. But that was with Discraft. He needs time to acclimate to DD

I think I remember reading about McCabe having a back injury a while back.

Wysocki is rated like 1047 now, isn't he? Was he that high with Innova?

To guys like eMac, Jenkins, feldberg they are nearing masters so age is part of the reason for falling off I suppose. One player I was expecting to develop his game much more has been david wiggins but on the vids online I've seen he try's to throw way too many power shots even when not necessary instead of golf shots. #onetrickpony

^^ I think Avery is like 33 years old, right? Still a ways from Masters.

At least 35, I'm 28 and graduated high school in 04, he graduated in 1997 his Facebook says so 7 years older than myself depending on when his birthday is, if he may have had a summer birthday and been held back

Just looked up his stats on Innova's website and it says he was born in 1978.

Shusterick has had some injury problems though hasn't he? Nikko just seems hot and cold no matter who he is with, though I will say he seems to do better with a mixed bag (like he had with Gateway and early in his Prodigy sponsorship.) Bars by and McCabe aren't young bucks either, so that's also a factor. Bars by hauling around that duffel bag at that one tournament was weird.

all deity can afford...

Barsby is younger than I am, think he's 26 or 27, just guys like him and ulibarri were basically in the spot shusterick and wysocki are now but 8 years ago

Alright I mean you could have done that yourself by going to the pdga past ratings in each player. Nikko is 1039 rated and has been rated in that area for 5 years or so. He was 1045 in 2011 towards his end with gateway and a mixed bag and was def winning NT, Usdgc and consistently in the top card every time. He just hasn't hit that next level how mcbeth and wysocki have.

Will schusterick has dropped 10 points or about 1 stroke per round on his rating since last November. Might not seem like a lot but it is. His rating was still high at the beginning of prodigy when they had mixed bags but it seems he started dropping off the time they were required to go all prodigy.

eMac was pretty consistent in the 1025-1030 range for several years, dropped as low as 1012 back to 1017. Once again a stroke per round can be the difference between a 1000 and 300 payout at a big event.

Barsby has went from a 1020-1029 rated guy for 5 years to a 1008, that is 1-2 strokes per round, at our local a tier he placed like 12th place, if he played his previous rating he would of been right there to make the finals.

I would venture any player who has "regressed" has done so more because of health or other personal matters than it has to do with the discs they're throwing.

He's in college so he's probably not devoting anywhere near the same amount of time the other young guns are.

I'm think age is reason but not because they can't do it anymore. All 3 of those guys seems a lot more focused on promotional careers. They are each the face of a respected company. I think they all know that long term this is a better career for them as they get older. Its much easier to make the same living working for the manufacturer over being a weekend warrior
