"what to wear" A Tier event

This weekend will be my first A Tier event and I am not sure what the proper attire is. I am not planning to arrive in flip-flops and a tank top....but what is acceptable attire for such an event.

I read that I can wear shorts or pants, but t-shirts are only allowed for prelim rounds. Collar shirt or drifit should be worn for final rounds.

I am planning to wear shorts, or jeans depending on the weather, an Innova t-shirt for round one (Friday), drifit type shirt for round 2 (Saturday) and a similar type shirt for round 3 (Sunday).

Do these fit the guidelines for an A tier event?

It really depends on how strictly the TD decides to enforce the dress code. In my experience, it's very loosely enforced, even for top level events.

"If you're focusing on what to wear to the event, the event will be about what your wearing"... -ancient proverbs

But seriously, focus on your play and don't dress like a scrub. Don't trip

Unless the TD is one of those who insists everyone be in polos and chinos, your planned attire should be fine. And frankly, if the TD is one of those polos and chinos guys, he really should be stating that on his flyer. :p

Nikko was wearing his stretchy zebra pants tucked into his mis-matched colorful socks at the Memorial!

Seriously... :wall:

Seriously? He didn't read the part in the rule book about what color combinations are allowed? Ridiculous. :|

There has been a group that has tried to force us into collard shirts for years. I prefer that we keep disc golf less stuffy myself. Plus, I always get a chuckle when one of the old hippies shows up in tiedye.

I was worried about my first A Tier in 2011, I wore a collared shirt all weekend and the winner of the event wore a wife beater all weekend. I have never worn a collared shirt during tourney play ever again lol

Why not ask the TD, instead of us?

Or if you're MJ, you can rock the collared shirt and the tiedye.

Hey.....50 is not old, man. :p

Just remember that your representing the sport of Disc Golf anytime you step out onto the course. I always try and wear a collared shirt when playing. I personally like to dress for success, I like to feel good about what I'm wearing. I'm not saying that everyone needs to wear a collared shirt but don't go out looking like scum.

My first A-Tier as an adult was the Colorado State Championships in 2012. Even though my buddy and I were playing Rec, we were worried about the dress code so we arrived in dry fit polos, Under Armour golf pants and flex fit hats.

We looked like ****ing idiots out there because everyone else was dressed casually and comfortably. We dressed down for the final round on Sunday to shorts and t-shirts.

PDGA does have a dress code but like others have said, it's rarely enforced. I generally wear dry fit material polos to any level of tournament now that I've grown accustomed to them, but it is by no means a requirement. I'll see if I can find a picture of us looking like goobers where everyone else was laid back to show you what not to do haha.
