Buying Online

Hey Everyone -

I wanted to get people's thoughts on purchasing discs online as I still prefer in-store purchases, but am willing to explore the option of buying online for convenience sake.

Where's the best place buy online? And why?

Thanks!

There are tons of online disc shops. The best ones, are the ones that respond to your questions with information/pictures of the disc you're interested in. For me Hyzer Farm on ebay has been amazing. Scott Papa and his wife run the store, and usually answer any questions I have in the same business day, and at times on Saturday and Sunday. I've also bought from Gotta Go Gotta Throw with no issues at all. I've never bought from the bigger stores online. I usually stick to ebay for used plastic, the marketplace here, and Hyzer Farm.

I have used Infinite Discs, Dynamic Discs, Marshall Street, and Third Coast Discs. All good companies, each have pros and cons though.

Marshall Street- Most expensive shipping unless you contact them first and request the lower end shipping. Plus is comes fast. Weights and colors are all listed with good descriptions of the colors- but no pics.

Third Coast- Price includes shipping which is nice, and great high res pics of each disc. Only downside is only Trilogy(which I like)- and small inventory since he is just getting the business off the ground.

Infinite Discs- Huge inventory, low res pics of each disc- sometimes shipping takes longer than expected, but usually fast.

Dynamic- usually a little more expensive, but they have had free shipping since December- dont know how long that is going on. No disc pics though, and colors arent always exactly as described.

Spending 5 bucks on a marketplace pass here is the best thing to do, but I have used discnation and community discs quite a bit, although I have never had to ask any questions or specifically talked to anybody at discnation. Community is great with questions tho.

I go to Community Discs first before checking anywhere else. Justin's customer service and personal notes in each order are great.

I go to Disc Golf Center because, for me, they have the biggest selection of discs in weight (I like 150 class) and color (I can find blue in the shule). Also, they usually arrive in just a couple of days. Granted, they are in Orlando and I'm in Tampa.

I buy most of my discs from Community and Disc Golf Center. Justin at community has awesome customer support. I'm often picky on weight and color and DGC can usually meet my needs with their huge inventory. Wade at DGC also provides great service. Can't go wrong with these two.

What is the general consensus for buying from Amazon? I have a bunch of gift card money, but I don't like the idea of not being able to select the color/weight I want.

Are there any Amazon vendors/shops that allow you to make specific requests before you make the actual order?

I can vouch for Hyzer Farm on eBay as well. More than willing to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Fast shipping and well packaged too. Give em a shot!

Community and DiscBaron are my go-tos. Both owners are members here and great guys. They're also quick to ship, stellar with communication, and have solid inventory and websites. I've done a special order with Community, and it was a breeze.

I go to DiscNation and Marshall St if Community and DB doesn't have what I want.

ive found that i tend to prefer (when buying online) stores that are usually smaller but specialize in specific brands. Example being that i really like Gateway Wizards for my putters, so i buy them from Phantom Discs, who specialize in Gateway. Also i really enjoy innova discs, and for higher end Innovas i go to ChainReactionDiscGolf bc they specialize in Innova. other than that i usually go to the local Play it Again. The main thing i look for in an online shop is the option to choose a specific weight and color; with more emphasis on weight. i used to buy off amazon but my problem is that they give you options of usually a 5-10g range so if you order 3 discs you could get 3 different weights. Also Chain reaction and Phantom both have had amazing Customer Service. Phantom was quick to respond in messages online and Chain reaction is always a wonderful experience because you look through the website and order over the phone. i was skeptic about it at first but the service was great and very helpful. also CR was very honest, i was looking for a specific disc the other week and they had 2 in the weight i wanted and the color i wanted but he was honest and said that one looked weird and he wouldnt recommend it (the difference was wether i wanted a foil or matte stamp). But ultimately i stick with companies that specialize in a brand. i had always heard the idea of being decent at a lot of things or being an expert in one or two things.

I have used Marshall St. and GGGT with nothing but good experiences. Solid guys at both. They usually know the answers to my questions.

Infinite is great but the shipping is very high from UT to GA.

I also like KW disc golf, Kevin posts here some and does cool vids and is very knowledgeable.

I go to Disc Golf Center because, for me, they have the biggest selection of discs in weight (I like 150 class) and color (I can find blue in the shule). Also, they usually arrive in just a couple of days. Granted, they are in Orlando and I'm in Tampa.

I also prefer DGC because I throw lower weight drivers (150 class), and they seem to be in stock fairly regularly in colors I like.

I like that you can pick color/wt, but also the progressive discount is attractive when buying stacks of plastic.

The customer service is great, too, as they'll take the time to answer any questions or concerns you might have.

The ease of use of their website is what initially attracted me to them, but I stayed because of the selection and service.

If you like Discmania, try just their store site. They list specific runs, plastic types, flatness, stability... It's amazing, you know exactly which run and which type of disc you're buying. Excellent customer service.

Usually shipping is 15 bucks, but it's 2 day. I pay for it for the convenience of knowing exactly what I'm getting.

Anything outside of discmania I will drive to Gotta Go, or order online from infinite discs.

Ditto on discgolfcenter.com. Can't recommend them enough. Inventory: haven't found a bigger one; they're tweeting out restocking news daily; customers can select precise color & weight of discs - can't believe retailers who don't offer that. Price: lowest I've found; progressive discounts drives those prices even lower; shipping is free. Customer service: very responsive; e.g. one time I got a box from them with a bunch of styrofoam packing peanuts in it and in one of their surveys I mentioned how it would be great not to get those anymore - next box they sent was just packed w/crumpled paper.

Only beef is that they're in Orlando and I'm in LA and it takes about a week to get my stuff. I guess they could open a fulfillment center in the SW, but I ain't complaining.

Over the years, I've used:

Sun King
Prime Discs
Gotta Go Gotta Throw
Dynamic Discs
Marshall Street
Disc Golf Center
Disc Golf Values
Phantom Discs
Amazon

I've never had a bad experience purchasing from any of them.

My go-to place for a long time was Sun King, but there's just so much competition now. I bought a lot from Dynamic Discs last year when they started closing out their Innova/Discraft/Legacy products with free shipping. Lately I've been going with Disc Golf Center, I just bought a Flak 4 and that knocks me up into a higher level of discounts. That plus the free shipping will keep me coming back for sure.

Most places will answer if you ask a question about what they have in stock (i.e. is the plastic domey/gummy/whatever, light pink or bright pink, etc.).

I shop online although I have visited GGGT and Spinners on the Green in person.

Marshall Street
Gotta Go Gotta Throw
Disc Golf Central
Disc Nation
Clearwater Disc Golf
Innova Factory Store
Disc Golf United
Phantom Discs

I prefer to call or email so I can get specifics about the disc in question.

Also, for used discs:
DGCR Marketplace
Facebook groups

Communitydiscs.com I can see what the disc looks like before I buy it and the hand written note is top notched service. I always get quick delivery and only $1 shipping. Can't beat it.

Marshall Street is a solid choice. FAST delivery, large inventory, and I've always got some extra stuff like stickers, scorecards, flight chart, etc.

But my go to is Disc Golf Center. Huge inventory, and like others have said lots of lightweight discs. Free Delivery that's pretty quick. And if you order from them frequently a progressive discount.
