[Vs.] Harp vs Zone

So which of these discs is your preference or do you like a combination of the two? It would be better if you have thrown both discs and are not just saying how much you like a disc you have with no knowledge of the other. I personally find the Harp to be a little more useful. Partially b/c it is not as overstable and b/c there are more production options on plastic so anyone can probably find a plastic they like.

I haven't tried the Harp. I used a Zone until I got a Honey. Terrible name, but SO overstable and grippy.

I like these types of Pollsters, if they have tried both I trust their vote more. I've never tried both but have been considering one of these for some time now. Anybody else that's thrown both of these...which one do you throw now and why?

Following up-the reason I used my Zone less was it was ridiculously overstable. Was more of a utility disc. I lost it, and had no local source for them. Instead of replacing it, I tried the Harp. My Harp comes in handy in the woods for the short turns either way since it's about the only slow disc I can flick with any confidence at all. I guess I could get my Suspect to do these things, but it's kinda fast for the shots I'm talking about and if I put too much into it, it stays straight too long.

I love the Zone and played with them for quite a while in all plastics, but the Harp has won the spot in my bag. Only slightly less stable than the Zone, the Harp (for me) tends to hold a line longer but still has the consistent, hard fade. After they beat in they become fantastic driving putters. Very straight, lots of HSS, and a nice forward fade. I find that the Soft Harps tend to hold their stability for longer than any of the other plastics in the lineup, but that I usually need to pair it with a Hard or VIP Harp if I want something that will skip reliably.

That said, I don't think you can go wrong with either. It'll really come down to what you need the disc to do for you and what kind of feel you're looking for in the hand. The Harp has a shallow rim with a large bead; the Zone is shallow and beadless.

EDIT: I voted both, but really would've voted "either".

Zone and Harp are close but two different discs. Zones are more overstable and beedless, harps have beeds. I prefer zone, but to be honest Ive been throwing it less and less since I got a Justice.

Just the back story for comparing purposes...I threw zones and a lot of them as my disc of choice for this slot for about 3 years. Last year, a buddy of mine convinced me to try the harp, because I was such a hard sell some I liked the zone so much. I now no longer bag the zone, and carry minimum 3 harps based on the course.

The zone I found to be more LSS, less glide, and just a little shorter than my harps. Harps, except for my beat bt hard, have just as good HSS. My harps I throw out to about 270' while I kept the zones out about 260'. The harps are just more versatile for me. My vip harp is very similar to my puddle top esp, and I also have a fresh hard for hyzer drives and a beat bt hard that will hold an anny for me. When I was throwing zones, they were primarily hyzer and flicks. Harps I can work lines with and cover anything within 275'. Without typing another 2 paragraphs on this, the versatility and availability between plastics for the harp to cover all these shots kicked out the zones.

The Honey is a disc from Essential Discs. It was marketed as a putter though it is much closer to a mid. They were produced by Gateway Disc Sports machines and are crazy OS little utility mids.

RDG swooped in and picked up the mold as the latest run was considered too OS for what Essential wanted the mold to be. We decided we would market the discs a midrange (BC it is one IMO) and call it the Sobek (Egyptian Croc God).

We are now on the fence with the future of the disc as there are some discrepencies between GDS, us and Essential so I'm not sure if we will ever fully own the rights to the discs.

....THAT SAID. The Honey/Sobek is a friggin' awesome disc. It is super OS, comfortable feeling mold that excels at all things beefy. Spike hyzers, Flicks, FH rollers, etc. are all made really easy with this disc.
It is certainly faster than a Harp/Zone but provides a ton of great shots all while being molded in delicious Gateway plastic. Check it out and you just might find your go to utility mid.

What plastic Harp is the most OS in your opinion?

The flexibility and usefulness of the Harp in your words mixed with the various plastics make it seem like it gets used allot. Where as the zone is a one trick pony, however it's arguably the best out there at that utility role.

Both are good, I appreciate your insight into the Harp, as I've never thrown one. Yet...

I think I really need an os disc for short flicks. Sometimes the zone is not enough but the gator is too much.
