American Disc Golf Tour

So they could potentially be using footage of McBeth during their ESPN broadcast?

Yup, Billy said he had older stuff, so it was going to happen regardless of me helping. Figured I might as well make him look as good as he is.

Assuming Paul signed a release to CCDG, the industry standard release allows the videographer to edit, sell, etc...

I don't think the player has any say in it? I could be totally wrong though. As far as I know I own the footage outright. That said if Paul has a problem with it all he's gotta do is let me know, and I'll do what I can.

Billy said he had something crazy planned that had never been done before. Pretty curious what it's going to be.

"Hey, let's feature a player not playing in our event and risk incurring the wrath of his main sponsor, a company that has lots of money and will actually sue us with real lawyers if we cross the line that we always seem to cross!"

Salient would have to work pretty hard to get themselves in trouble. ESPN will make it look reasonably professional. And honestly, exposure is in both Paul and Innovas best interests. Not saying they can't, just that they'd have to work at it.

You own the copyright to the footage, but you don't own the likeness of the people in the footage. If you intend to distribute footage (or an individual still frame from the footage) to promote a product, service, or idea, you need to obtain written consent from the individual(s) in the footage/still frame. See When Photographers Need a Photo Release or Use of Likeness.

You lobbed us a really fat softball there, thanks!

Ok, my guess is the Jeep ace hole is going to have a flaming basket and if you hit the ace you need to run to the basket and retrieve your disc before it's over half melted -- otherwise, No Jeep for You!

Seriously. I mean they are giving all the power in this scenario for McBeth or innova to drop a hammer on them if they want to. Best case scenario for them is for Paul/innova to say "whatever, free advertising" which they might do. Or they might decided to ruin them. Hard to know.

I'm hoping that they use the footage to try and set up a wrestling style grudge with Ricky as the heel. I can see the promos in my head perfectly

"They say he's the best player in the world. But he wouldn't even show up to play me in the biggest broadcast in disc golf history. Is is scared?"

Does that apply to me or them? I'm not promoting anything, they are right?

It's not just McBeth though, it's almost all the big names.

I think I read somewhere someways back that they would be filling the spaces in the broadcast with footage about disc golf, history, etc. Which is my guess as to why they'd want footage of McBeth. I'm sure they'll explain away his not being there, possibly because he was playing in Europe this past weekend. I wonder if they'll sidestep any mention of the PDGA, as they've done on the website?

using the number 1 pdga player in an espn commercial to promote the adgt will defiantly ruffle some feathers. do you see the arena football using NFL players in their adverts? no... i bet innova has good lawyers.

Im kind of wondering the same thing but with the pdga getting involved. You are showing PDGA ran events advertising them or portraying them as being the same as ADGT. Wouldn't that require a waiver from them???? I know they require that you use the logo throughout the video if it a tour event with money backing by them.

Just wish months ago ESPN would have done a little research and read all 266 pages of this thread before giving full on airtime to those guys. I really wouldn't think the big disc golf manufactures would care a whole lot if we needed to go to a standard shape/band on a basket if it lead to more growth for the sport. How much would the switching the baskets for nt/worlds cost??? Seems like Most courses get new baskets donated each year for said events.

Just my little rant. Time to let David take over.

Also, if they are playing by a separate set of rules how are they PDGA sanctioned rounds? Different rules=different round ratings...

Lol anyone reading 266 pages of any thread on any forum.

I think we just found a new method for enhanced interrogation that the CIA can use on ISIS.

So where's the speculation over what score will take one of the 5 spots available in tomorrow's qualifier?
