[Gateway] Gateway Discs AMA

Yeah hope to see some more mids and approach discs in SDS, Karma and Element would be natural choices, and maybe even the Devilhawk, take some beatings on spikes and forehand tree hits.

I'll see what I can do.
It's an expensive & complex mix so hopefully the SGS sales show the guys that this is a big time hit.

Forgive me if this has already been asked but what are the differences between plastics? I get Diamond and Platinum are better blends but what is the difference between the two?

So the standard production
SG Sure Grip (and its various flex offshoots S,SS,SSS,RFF,E,Organic)
E Evolution

And these new runs
PWP (Pure White Proto)
SGS Sure Grip Select
Evolution Diamond
HD Hyper Diamond
Evolution Platinum

How does the Assassin compare to a Legacy Mongoose?

And how does the stability compare for Diamond, Platinum, Evo and Sure Grip?

This might help a bit:

Sure Grip line plastics include the following: S,SS,SSS,RFF,OG,Special Blend, PWP, Sure Grip Select (SGS)

Current Evolution plastics: Platinum, Diamond, HD (Hyper Diamond)

Evolution Diamond - Transparent 'Candy' looking and feeling plastic, Gummy, flexible, indestructible - We have run Assassins, Scouts, Elements, Karmas, and very few Wizards (all x-outs due to rim bubbles)

Evolution Platinum - Opaque, firm, durable plastic, sometimes has some pearl to it - We currently have Elements, Karmas, Scouts, Warriors, Assassins, Slayers, Samurai, Spirits, Illusions, and Wizards in this awesome plastic

Evolution HD - Blend of Diamond and Platinum, translucent, pearly, firm like Platinum but feels indestructible like Diamond, has a unique pearly glow to it - Currently we have only run Apaches in this plastic, but they are $$$

I have only thrown a Mongoose a couple times and only in Legend plastic, but to me they were more understable than Assassins.

The stability of the Assassin definitely varies between plastics:

Evo Diamond - Overstable out of the box, like a beefy teebird

Evo Platinum - Stable out of the box, beat in to have a little turn with good finish

Sure Grip - Stable out of the box, but beat in to be nice and flippy

So, could a disc minimalist do well with just Assassins in these three plastics as the primary driver?

I just found my new favorite Wizard, new tooling, ER written on the back for flex, has a S level of flex with a pretty soft plate. I'm curious do Erasers beat in faster than other plastics?

Also I have some SS that have a slicker grip to them, I'm wondering if that slickness will wear off over time?

Are the slick SS Wizards new or used? My first step is usually to wash with some dish soap. We'll see what others chime in with.

Dish soap won't hurt them. That way you know nothing is on the surface from production, handling etc.

Yeah for sure.
G9 is slick as snot initially but will season into having a decent grip.

You're right though, PWP is about perfect in terms of feel & performance

Been working in the g9i's and an loving them, I'm amazed more people aren't obsessed with these.

I just got a few soft wizards and they were super slick.

One wash with dish soap and they feel great. Grippy and a little chalky.

Was wondering about the dry fits order as well. Also wondering if any Street team members have been notified or announced yet?
