How to defeat Ricky Wysocki

After last year's Worlds and this years Gentlemens Club Challenge, it seems clear that the only way to defeat Ricky is to keep up with him for every hole of every round. Falling back and giving him any kind of cushion gets one beat.

Paul McBeth used to make heroic comebacks time and again. But he can no longer do that if he falls behind Ricky too much. The last round of the GCC showed that... even with an ace, Paul just couldn't overcome the lead Ricky built over the previous three rounds. Great effort by McBeth, as always... but just a bit short on this one.

Eagle McMahon stayed ahead of Ricky in the Aussie Open, then had a mini-Atlanta-Falcons meltdown on the last couple of holes. But Eagles showed that THAT, keeping up or staying ahead, is the only way to have a shot at beating Ricky these days. Take heed, Paul McBeth! Take heed...

What you've got to do is cut the hamstring on the back of his leg right at the bottom. He'll never play golf again, because his weight displacement goes back, all his weight is on his right foot, and he'll push everything off to the right. He'll never come through on anything. He'll quit the game.

I thought he answered the question "How do you beat McBeth".

What do I know? :\

Get em' on a craft brew and herb celebration cycle and you might be able to dull that sharp edge of his>>.

I was waiting for the final rounds to be upload to YouTube guess I know who wins now. I am glad he won. I would like to see Nikko win more big tournament's this year.

All of Ricky's big wins mentioned in the OP were on ball golf courses. It will be interesting to see how he will do in the woods at worlds this year.

This is a great point. He seems to do well on the open style courses. He has good consistency on those, especially when there are so many easy (for pros) par 3's and 4's. He just hits all of those must get birdie opportunities and plays somewhat conservative throughout.

You don't see him getting eagles on the short par 4's, but he's for sure getting birds on almost every par 3 and 4.

If McBeth wants to beat him, he needs to dial back the go for broke factor on some holes and just play conservative (boring) birdie golf.

I think it simply boils down to the fact that Ricky currently makes more putts from outside the circle than anyone else does. And that seems to be enough to keep Rick winning or in contention in just about every event he plays. Everything else seems to be fairly equal.

Worth noting that Ricky's first Major win was at the IDGC back in 2011. He's won at Maple Hill. Just last year, he won the Beaver State Fling, the Silver Cup, the Majestic, and the Green Mountain Championship. I expect he'll more than hold his own in the woods this summer.

When you are hot right out of the gate like he was on the first round, it's almost impossible to beat him. You have to match him stroke for stroke, stay within one or two throws, and hope that you surge at the same time that he fades.
