[Discmania] DD3

Wonder if that's a new Discmania top or a piece of another Innova mold. That bottom looks really familiar but I can't place it without something to compare it too. Shryke maybe?

First impressions:

Cloudbreaker is very similar in stability to my fresh S-PD2 and more overstable than my newish Glow C-PD2. It's not a meathook but it is oversrable. I didn't see any turn out of it.

Compared to the S-PD2 the DD3 felt a bit faster, a bit more glidey and had a more forward fade.

At the moment, it does not seem like a drop in replacement for a beat PD2, which is what I has hoping for.

However, I am withholding judgement for the time because:
1) there is a fair bit of flashing that I will work on removing
2) I never really nailed a throw with it. I can put my glow PD2 out about 425, but I think my longest with the DD3 was about 380. I am a bit rusty (a 2 month old baby will do that to you).

Going to continue to work with it, and will report on any developments.

Anyone have a boss they can get a side by side profile pic with?

I wonder if it's a modified boss. I don't find Destroyers any faster than PD2s but the Boss definitely feels faster and I have thrown some pretty OS bosses. Looking forward to some more reviews and perhaps some official word from DM in the thread.

But some discs come without flashing one run, and then with flashing the next, and as a result fly quite differently until said flashing wears off. Which is the intended flight?

The way I see it, flashing is an unintended byproduct of manufacturing, and as such creates a deviation of the intended flight. But that's just my opinion.

[edit]: My bad. Disregard. I misread the above post. I blame my pre-gaming of wildcard weekend.

It kind of looks like a destroyer

Honestly, what I take most from that series of photos is that it really shines a light on just how much variation there is across various runs of the same mold, particularly for wide wing distance drivers. Both the PLH and the shoulder vary so much, it's hard to say if there really is a mold difference between the Destroyer and the DD3, or if they just molded up / cooled differently.

At this point, I tend to believe the latter. But the destroyers may have a minutely more "blunt" nose, which might indicate a different top?

It sure looks tasty. Right in the sweet spot between PD2 and workable Destroyers

I received my DD3 cloud breaker and have had quite a few chances to throw it. It has taken over my Destroyer slot. I throw my destroyers on golf lines to 425 but don't really throw any distance lines ever.
Comparing the cloud breaker (175) to philo Destroyer(169) the Cloud Breaker gets about the same distance, but doesn't force over into a turn as easily as the philo Destroyer. Interestingly it seems easier to keep from dumping, as in it gets up to speed easier. It is not extremely different from a Destroyer but it does have some subtle differences.
My forehands with a tight flex have been amazing with the Cloud Breaker.

Glow philo. I thought the DD3 was a very user friendly Destroyer, more penetrating fade and good hss without falling to a hyzer early. It doesnt magically add 50 ft, but the plastic is sweet.

When is it fully released? Did they do just a small run of those? Cant find the info anywhere

no release date yet. The ones from the mystery box were proto not first run. I believe there were 750 boxes, so 750 discs.
