Brodie Smith PDGA #128378

He is usually a good putter but today he's started terrible

Three of those first four holes are weird though. 1 is elevated. 2 is on a slope next to a pond and 4 is elevated next to a pond. 5 is also pretty tricky. Its kind of a death putt on a peninsula in the creek

Lol he just made his 2nd c2 putt... maybe he was just putting to too close earlier... The Kevin Jones syndrome...:D

That's a nice bird too. That hole eats me alive. Tight gap to a small landing area and then it turns right and goes straight up hill thru a tunnel.

i will take the over on that one.

Clarify.

OVER his rating or more strokes OVER par than I said. Not sure of context.

Still -1 thru 12... now let's see how he fares running the gauntlet to the finish line...

Might be a rough weekend if he is not hitting his lines.

Well aware, but a more experienced pro might be able to stop the bleeding a little easier than him.

Brodie is going to get wrecked at Idlewild. I don't believe he has the course management experience to handle this track.

Good chance brodie shoots high 800 to low 900 rounds this weekend.

One thing is for certain. 4 birdies and 2 bogeys through 15 holes is hardly "Getting eaten up" or "wrecked" by Idlewild. Will he win? no. But will he perform. Absolutely. Better than some people expect.

Well the three bogeys on 15-17 hurt. Back to even par finished at 68. Coming in likely around 995. Not bad for getting "wrecked"

Mizunodave said the word "wrecked" and was included in the quote train.

Honestly I think its amazing that, given the amount of video evidence of the work he put in, that people still think he's going to come into one of these events and shoot like a tourist jumping on tour for an event. I feel like people are treating him, in their predictions, like he's someone like me - a nondescript nobody local joe pro who goes to these big events and doesn't take the course seriously enough and bombs one round before playing good local joe pro golf for a few rounds on a foreign course.

Brodie is coming into these events and taking legitimate time to practice the layouts thoroughly. On top of that - he's constantly referring to his long game and keeps leaking comments about "two years" into his videos - referring to when he thinks he'll be a "problem" on the course for other pros. He's aware of where he's finishing relative to the cashline, and okay with it (maybe not 'okay', I'm sure he's annoyed) and not going to hack through the woods because he's worried how he'll look in the standings after a few rounds. There's no impatience.

I think he's, especially considering the prep work he puts in before his events, at this point a pretty reliable 980+ guy, if not 990+ guy. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on the fatigue still hitting him from the little Lyme bout, I don't know enough about mid-term complications. I fully expect his rating at the end of this year to be in the upper 980s. If he goes into a tournament grind in the late fall down south maybe 990s.
