Good idea, make it happen

 caveman Brian add poll. I made sure to specify what kind of Golden Retriever we're talking about to (hopefully) minimize the "no, but I have a Siberian husky and a chocolate lab...har har har!" posts.

built my own rake...now I don't have to get wet to get my discs and friend's discs back. I have also made a bunch of friends calling numbers on the other discs I find.

I love seeing peoples faces that have never seen one before. We had two guys behind us playing, and we waved at them to play through. One guy threw his disc right in a small creek. I could see the bottom, as he was walking over, I pulled out my Retriever, and fished it out for him. As he walked up , I got the question that I get alot. "Cool, did you make that?" I told him I got it in a trade from a member here on the site, and then I told him about DGCR. He thanked me for both .

I have saved about 10 discs in the short time I have had it. It works great, and keeps you feet dry.

I've got a hole on my course that ill use it on (when I purchase one). But nothin beats feeling for them with your feet. On a warm day that is

until you step on empty beer bottles, broken glass, hypodermic needles, fishing tackle, miscellaneous garbage all while wading in water thats 60% goose sh*t

RETRIEVER

Bought one about a year ago after losing a disc at Fritz Park. Have not lost a disc since, but fished out a couple for friends. One was in real murky water but I was able to snag it after a few trawling runs. It is a keeper.

I enjoy stripping bare-ass naked on the links and going into the drink for discs.

I've been thinking about getting a golden retriever. I now believe the purchase would be well worth it if for no other reason than to avoid a site like this while out on a disc golf course (and now that's a distinct possibility seeing that I'm in the Atlanta area). I will more than gladly help out a fellow disc golfer as long as they promise to keep their clothes on. :gross:

I took mine out to Fore Palms in Jacksonville the other day and pulled out four discs in two hours (I thought the haul would be better, to be honest. There are two holes that throw over it, after all...). It more than paid for the Retriever as I got to keep every one. Two were totally unmarked, one was marked with just a name and the other with a Virginia phone number that was not in service (I even tried alternate area codes). The haul: A Star Orc, a Champ Sidewinder, a tye dye Champ Boss and a beat to hell DX Banshee. I traded the Orc for an 11x Teebird today.

I tried to help out a couple people who tossed theirs in when I was out there, but they were either too far out or I just kept missing.

The best part was the guys laughing at me for trying to fish discs out with it. "Man, you aren't gonna get anything with that little thing!" I shrugged, winged that sucked out there... and pulled in the Boss. They didn't have any further comments.

Got mine on a trade here not too long ago.... already saved 2 from the water and got one off of the ice! It has more than paid for itself.

I have 2 boxers

I'm actually planning to make a monthly trip to Fore Palms to see what I can get out of there. By the end of summer, I should have enough discs to last me for years... you know, considering most people don't even bother to mark theirs.

I actually got two guys to mark their discs, though. How? I told them that if I reel in a disc and it has a number, that number gets called. Good stuff.

I was playing a course a few weeks ago, and it has a shallow pond about 50ft across, and I saw a disc about 6 inches below the water in the middle of the pond. I threw the retriever out there and got it. Called the number and it was disconnected, so I got another disc with it.

My brothers prized putter fell into the water, and we lost site of it. I tossed the retriever out there and got it back for him. He was impressed and sold on it.

We saved two of WorldsCoolestGuy's discs out on ice with golden retrievers along with a disc another guy was just going to leave there while we were out today. Yesterday I got one of Hognosesucker's off a different frozen pond. I think I'm up to about 20 discs that I've retrieved with mine so far.

i last used mine when it was 12 out and had to go into the water to free it

That suuucks. That's why I made one out of 1/8" steel rod. It doesn't fold, but sits in the car anyhow. Most of our water here is murky, so it's a trawling trip and I'll come back after the round. Pulled around 10 out with it. The last time I used it for a personal disc, it snagged on something, I yanked, and the line broke. Said "Meh, there goes 5 dollars...time to stop by lowes..." Also found a 1st run Spectra before that happened...
With our water...waders seems more efficient (but costs more). I borrowed a friend's so that I could go get that same disc. Using just a rake and maybe 2 hours, I'd found 9 discs. Gave one to a pair who lost a monster in there I couldn't find...after I got it back for them once already... :wall:

i wanted to try to make one of my own but they are only 25 buck ehh i should just buy one

It really honestly took me like 10 minutes to make...if that long.

They are well worth the money. After my friend saw me pull several discs out of the water, he went home and ordered one.

There was a guy on here , that had never seen a Golden Retriever, but decided to build something to get discs out of the water, and basically made the same thing, and started selling them on EBay. He then got a "Cease and desist order" from some lawyers.
