Bubba Watson PGA and PDGA

that's a good point. I'm just laughing at how quickly the pDGA had a press release trying to ride Bubba's win as their own win for disc golf. And the pDGA altered his player page to remove the red "not current" jargon.

pDGA = 100% bottom feeders.

congrats to fellow disc golfer, Bubba on his win. We can only hope to have an event like the Masters for disc golf.

You work with what you've got in this life, and unfortunately our sport has to put lipstick on a pig. There are so few affluent supporters of discgolf that the PDGA needs to take every opportunity they can to latch onto a mainstream success like this. I say well done PDGA. Anything that helps bring our sport validation in the eye's of the general public is a plus.

how about that opportunity the pDGA took with ABC's happy endings? That sure made our sport look so professional </sarcasm>

:thmbup:

Agreed. Though I'm pretty new at this sport, not a member, and have read a ton of the gripes with the PDGA, I think this is a good thing for to put the spotlight on. Good for them.

From what I've seen, the PDGA leadership we have takes advantage of the opportunites that they are presented with. You're right muddy, we are all ashamed how the ABC episode turned out, but sometimes you try hard and get used. I commend them for taking a shot with the one's that will have us.

Bubba is done with DG, he has a kid now. Once you have a kid DG is nothing but a memory.

T.hizzle has a real point here, most people stop playing (competitively that is, once they have a child)...not different than a lot of hobbies...

probably won't see much of t.hizzle either on the course after his kid arrives (congrats again, BTW). Probably won't stop DGCR posts, though.

Competitively? Yes, I'd have to agree wholeheartedly. I have an 18 mo. old and I'd say that has a lot to do with my not having joined the PDGA yet. If that's what Hizzle is referring to, then perhaps I missed his point.

I think the fact that Bubba's a pro ball golfer might have something to do with him not being a current member moreso than having a kid though.

Yes! Getting a couple of hours for a round is possible. However, getting very many full days to play touraments. Good luck!

Having just gotten into the sport when my daughter was born, I hope that there will be a time in the future when I can think about playing competitively. Could actually be a good thing...let's me improve on my own time before I start entering tournaments.

there are multiple general lee's. the guy who played "cooter" lives about an hour from here and has one of them too.

I think I heard there were as many as 18 at a time ready to go. Some were just painted up but junkers, others were full-fledged 'show' cars that were used for close-ups and no stunts.
