Newbie here frOm Universal City, Tx, played my first round at UC park with my Boxer Penny and had a blast!! I am officially addicted, planning on a morning trip up to Austin's Disc Nation for a bag and some more gear. Playing a Valkerie, Buzzz and a dart. I bought a Nuke-z by accident and didn't do to bad with it, but almost Los it a couple of times lol. Plan to be here for a while, and I plan on asking questions after doing a proper search!

Welcome to the sport and the site. You've come to the right place.

Welcome! Valk, Buzzz, Dart...great starter discs. The Nuke is more than likely to fast of a disc for you just yet. It requires more speed and snap to get it flying like it should, without proper speed it will just hook bad for you and probably be very in-consitant. Use the Buzzz as much as you can, it will help give you proper form. Buzzz is an all around great disc for driving or up shots.

Grab a Buzzz for sure man, and welcome to this blissful insanity!

Welcome. Feel free to ask the guys at the store some questions about different discs and what would be good for a beginner. It is a very addicting sport. I remember when i said "ill never be one of the guys with a bag and 20+ discs"

Get an understandable driver like an Avenger SS, Sidewinder or Roadrunner. And a different putter like a magnet, challenger, aviar or wizard would not hurt. Welcome to the sport, if your like the rest of us you'll be hooked for life.

Are you throwing forehand, backhand or both?

I said the same thing to my wife while watching the guys around here play, "I will never carry more than three discs, so why do I need a bag". Tomorrow i will be visiting Disc Nation in Austin 1 hr away to upgrade from the simple Innova bag that i just bought and will be giving to my wife who also said no bag was needed, to the Competition size lol. Will also pick up a Ridge as well, and also need a towell and some water bottles.

mostly forehand and im pretty good at it, still working on everything else. will look at an Avenger SS and an Aviar putter thanks.

Very cool, glad you found our wonderful sport and the site! Feel free to ask questions and enjoy yourself. :)

WE got another one! Dart and Buzz are great discs... I would look at the Teebird as a driver, and the stingray is also a great learning disc.

Buy the premium plastic... it's worth the extra few bucks... just don't forget to ink it up!

glad you like the sport, You'll never look at flat, round objects the same again...
A TL is a good disc for beginners to pros. great for Bh and with a little control, it flicks nicely too.

I recommend the GL River as a driver but not sure of its forehand ability. The Summit makes a decent overstable approach disc.

And don't EVER plan on getting to your road trip destinations on time... As soon as i found this site, my 3 hour trips from Springfield to stl have turned into 3 hours of road time and at least 2 hours or dg time. You will find courses on the way to ANYWHERE you want to go and if your addiction gets like mine it you wont be able to pass a city that you KNOW has a course that you haven't played yet. HAHA!!!
