North Strabane Twp. Disc Golf Course (southwestern Pa)

The course has all 18 holes in. The back nine is still rough but definitely playable. It is a decent layout and a fun play.

    The most entertaining...

Good riddance to all of them.

Do rollers involve a bit of voodoo?

Rollers always require some voodoo. There is so much crap on the ground between you and your target that even though the mechanics of a roller can be perfected the result is always at least somewhat down to luck.

North Strabane Twp. Disc Golf Course (southwestern Pa)

Now that the pipeline is done being installed we are going to revamp the front nine (pipeline affected holes) and begin laying out the back nine (again...). Hopefully by spring there will be 18 playable holes. Nothing is set in concrete yet but the pipeline getting put in might be a blessing...

    Women's distance record.

Regardless of actual distance you look like an up and comer and we certainly need more women in this sport so welcome and keep up the good work.

Playing a course for the first time, in a tourney.

^^ Totally agree. I almost always play my best tournaments rounds on a first time course. You focus more on each individual shot rather than comparing it to what you have done in the past.

    Course design frustration.

What a ridiculous post by the OP. Par from Slippery Rock's green tees are 800 rated as was previously stated. Combine that with the fact that the course is pretty much wide open and I am not sure how much more "beginner friendly" (whatever that means) the course can be. The fence mentioned...

    Most Embarrassing Disc Golf Story

My most embarrassing disc golf moment was during a PDGA tournament at IUP College Lodge in Indiana PA. They had set up hole #17 as an island green. It is a pretty easy 240 ft shot from the longs. I had been playing for only about a year at this point so I did not carry too many discs in my...

    Executing The Dream

I just want to say that I love this thread. I live on a little wooded acre and a half and have a nice little putter course set up. Currently just nine holes but will probably move to 12 here soon. I love to see these personal courses and hear about the devotion and work that goes into them...

Grants for course on non profit kids camp

I would always suggest trying for grants but never to rely them. I know of a Non-Profit camp around here that received a grant that covered 9 baskets which was a great start. Self funding a course on someone else's private land is a risky business. There has to be some real trust there plus I...

    Youth Program for Disc Golf

Pittsburgh does the Scholastic Series, which is 5 or 6 events for middle schoolers (Elementary is included in Middle) and high schoolers to compete for their schools. The winning school gets to hold on to an epic trophy for the year. Some of the events coincide with PDGA events as well so...
