Okay, so Jussi Meresmaa (CEO of Discmania) sent a tweet 18th of june (in Finnish) where he said that the European Open will be broadcasted live on Finnish national television (YLE)!

This sport is about to go mainstream here.

..Or not.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I trust Jussi.. :hfive:

You think this may be one of the reasons Jussi wanted to have anti-doping drug tests? If it is true that the European Open is being broadcast live on Finnish TV then words cannot describe how huge this is for our sport. This is the second biggest thing to happen to our sport this year after our sport being recognized by the IOC.

IOC??

That is huge though. Its a big deal over in Finland and Sweden.

The IOC recognized WFDF (World Flying Disc Federation) which covers a whole slew of disc sports, including disc golf. Pretty sure the big thrust for getting WFDF recognized is to get Ultimate into the Olympics, not disc golf. It's a toe in the door, apparently, but it's a tiny toe and the door is barely open a crack.

As if the people on this forum are any better at that ^^

Esa Arokki (head of SpinTV and the guy who shot Deep In The Game) is producing.

Anybody know if there will be an internet stream? I definitely want to watch.

Live broadcast to be streamed cost-free all around the world

We naturally wish to get as many on-site spectators to this event as possible, but if you don't have the chance to experience the European Open at the tournament site, be sure to keep your eyes peeled to the live broadcast. Not owning a TV set won't be a problem either, since the TV broadcast will be streamed cost-free without country restrictions at YLE's web programming service areena.yle.fi. More information and direct links to the live feed will be posted here on opendiscgolf.com later on.

Awesome, thanks!

The live stream is 3:30 p.m in Finland time (EET), so do the maths from that.
