First attempt at dying a disc turned out great.

My roommate bought some Rit dye months ago but we just finally got around to giving it a shot tonight. I made a template out of a picture and printed it out and used an improvised lightbox to trace the image onto contact paper. I then cut the image out using an xacto knife and covered the whole thing in masking tape to keep the pieces in place before peeling off the backing.

I stuck a nail through the center of the contact paper and used it to align the image on the disc (Star Vulcan).

I mixed a whole pack of Rit dye with about 3-4 cups of water and heated it over low until it was pretty warm to the touch but not painful. I soaked the disc face down for 10 minutes, checked it, and then 10 more minutes before pulling it and giving it a rinse. It looked awesome with the gray contact paper still attached.

This is what it looked like once I removed all the masking.
