I play most casual rounds with 5-7 discs. I play tournament rounds with 12-15 discs, depending on the course, the wind conditions and the risk of lost discs in a pond or other OB.

But basically, those extra discs don't do much to change my score. Some of my best scoring rounds are with just a Teebird and a putter. And I feel confident I can play any course in the world and hit close to my best potential score with just the following:
