Big D in the Desert is over, so it looks like the Valkyrie's reign as the distance record disc will live on. Personally I was rooting for the record to fall because Innova just put the record on the Star Valk stamp. I find it funny when marketing goes bad.

My info might be bad, but it looks like the long throw of the competition was made with a DX TeeBird.

Is there a link that shows what discs went what distances?

There is a quick update up on the site. It says the round-by-round results will be up later, and that usually tells you the disc mold and weight.

not very detailed, but you can see some stuff here: https://www.discgolfvalues.com/bigd4.htm

for the metrically disabled, 250 m = 820 ft.
That one's a few years old. There's one that just ended yesterday that Working Stiff is talking about.

Supposedly, Mark Jarvis went 228 meters with a DX TeeBird for the longest throw of the event.

Congratulations go to team Finland for taking the top spots at Big D in the Desert.
Jussi Meresmaa is the 2008 World Distance Champion winning the finals throwing a 166g Pro Destroyer 204 meters.
Taking second place was Juho Parviainen throwing a 165g DX Valkyrie 201 meters.
Taking 3rd place was Andrew Rich with a throw of 189 meters.
Rounding out the top 4 was Marc Jarvis with a throw of 185 meters.

There were 3 world records set at this years event. Setting the new womens record was Valarie Jenkins with a throw of 148 meters. Setting the new masters record was Jack Cooksey with a 208 meter throw and crushing the 13 and under record was David Wiggins Jr with a throw of 176 meters.

Rounding out the field in order of finish:

Christian Sandstrom - 177 meters
Erin Hemmings - 176 meters
Jack Cooksey - Won Masters division - 169 meters
Avery Jenkins - 165 meters
___________________
Christian Voigt - 180 meters
Mark Molnar -178 meters

670 feet with a Pro Destroyer?? DAYUM!

Wiggins JR. 577 feet??? JEBUS

I belive C. Sandström threw 245 meters the day before the competition. But of course, that doesn't count.

245? That's nothing. I go 250 all the time with my Cheetah, and it's only my midrange, bitches! :p

Uh, was that in meters? I guess 250 FEET isn't all that great.

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I want to be
Pony trekking or camping
Or just watching TV
Finland, Finland, Finland
It's the country for me

You're so near to Russia
So far from Japan
Quite a long way from Cairo
Lots of miles from Vietnam

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I want to be
Eating breakfast or dinner
Or snack lunch in the hall
Finland, Finland, Finland
Finland has it all

You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored
A poor second to Belgium
When going abroad

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I quite want to be
Your mountains so lofty
Your treetops so tall
Finland, Finland, Finland
Finland has it all

I'm glad to see masterbeato made it out there.

It looks like Blake was right; you want to throw with Finnish power and not Swedish power like Kallstrom does.

I never can find video of a drive going more than 600 feet, other than ones thrown off cliffs and the like.

there's a reason they hold the contest in the desert.

tons of PURE wind.

throwing deep
step (1): find minimum of 25mph wind
step (2): put the wind @ your back
step (3): throw an understable disc 4 your arm strength

i was told that if your an above avg arm without "distance competition" distance, one can easily add 120ft to your longest drive. those with more knowledge of the pure distance throw can tack on 200ft and beyond their longest throw.

Ok then, if its just about huge tailwinds. I've always gotten my longest drives in a real strong tailwind, 500+ I'd like to think. I should take more time to practice them on days with a strong tailwind. It's the only reason I still have a wraith in my bag.

Under 700 feet for the destroyer? Does that mean that the XS, TeeBird and Valkyrie are still the only discs (that I know of) to 'officially' go over 700 feet?
