It is nice to see a lot of people making the trip to come play the two courses at Lincoln Park and we enjoy all of the feedback and comments in generates but I thought I would take the time to answer a few questions about the layout.
The new tee signs are coming... 6x6's have been purchased to install on the courses. It will take time for them to get in the ground - Heavy Rains and the fact that 22 Park District employees unfortunately just lost their jobs because of budget cuts.
Ignore the current signs... they are wrong.
Don't ignore the numbers on the baskets... they are right.
Follow the NexTEES they will take you directly to the next hole.
On the south Course there are 4 teepads that are not concrete... every time it rains and washes away the paint or the vandals or mowers destroy the flags - you will lose the area of those pads... until foot traffic wears them in or the concrete gets poured.
After you play the first two holes - there is a hole in the woods behind the maintenance shed.
After you play number 4 the pond shot - Number 5 is a new hole that shoots up the hill into the woods. Tee is about 45' directly in front of the tree in the meadow - you can go left or right over the columns up the hill to the basket.
Number 6 is a natural tee at the top of the hill on the outer edge of the park that is a tunnel shot down the hill and then over the meadow...
Number 14 is a new wooded hole after the blind dog leg left down the hill.
After you play 14 you cross the bridge to play the second pond shot.
After you play the pond hole... you walk down the inner road to the south entrance of the park and play 16, 17 and 18 basically walking back toward the middle of the park along 5th St.
on the North Course... you first play the old 15, 16 and 18 inner loop. The tee for number 1 is right by the fire hydrant - you are shooting over the hill.
the balance of the course starts @ #4 which is just north of 18 on the south course - you follow the loop all the way around the top of the park...
These courses are both over 6,400 feet from the blues... if you ever have any questions about the two courses... jump on discgolfclub.org and the locals would love to help you out.
Remember there are alot of blind pins on this course but the numbers on the baskets are right and the NexTEES will point you to the next set of tee pads.
Tee Signs and Tee Pads are on the way... weather and budgets and the fact these are public parks that require their labor preform the work - make it take a little while.
But for those that have been at this park - when the park district does the work... it is top notch - so be patient, you will be rewarded.
We are blessed with a great park district that fully knows how good these courses are - and the maintenance guys and groundcrews take great pride in the course.
Thanks and you are always welcomed in Springpatch.
