What is the difference in flight between throwing a tomahawk and a thumber?

opposite flight paths.

People seem to get more distance on thumbers.

For a right handed person, thumbers fly out to the left (turning upside down in a clockwise rotation) and hook off right at the end. Tommy's do the opposite.
