Payout table for charity Doubles tournament?

I'm not wanting to use the typical payout table because the prize would be too small to make it worth while.

Half of the entry fee goes to the charity then since it's doubles, you are splitting your prize with someone. What I thought of doing is just multiplying the entrants on a typical payout table by 4.

For example if my table says there has to be 9 players before you pay out a 4th place I would only pay out a 4th place if there were 36 players.

Is there a better way?

If you download the International PDGA TD report template, it provides percentages down to 15% of the field getting paid which would be 3 paid teams out of 36 players (18 teams). It also has 20%, 25%, 33% and 40% for those who may be interested in payout percentages lower than the U.S. TD report.

Simple straightline method to calculate payouts, for what it's worth.

Let's say you have $420 for the purse and you're paying 6 teams with it.

Add up total of places paid: 1+2+3+4+5+6=21

Divide purse by above sum: $420/21=$20; $20 is your 'base' amount. Invert the places, multiply by base:

1st Place = 6x$20=$120
2nd Place =5X$20=$100
3rd Place = 4x$20=$80
4th Place = 3x$20=$60
5th Place = 2x$20=$40
6th Place= $20
