i have been wondering how long these will last. i think its a factor of load and abuse, but this part of the bag, while being its greatest strength, is also its greatest weakness.

Phenix went through a brief phase where they reworked the straps probably to save money and it weakend them in one key spot. At the bottom of the straps where the padded part attaches to the actual straps, the original configuration was an X inside a square.
They changed this config to remove the X pattern and make it just a square. This weakened this point and caused them to rip there more than anywhere else. It came to their attention fairly quickly and last I heard, they'd fixed the issue.
