I frequently practice on some ball fields near a local course that are natural grass. If you do this, you know the problem. You quickly wear a hole in the turf. This means you have to move your practice set up around so that you don't have a big hole right where you are trying to plant. Plus, it's detrimental to the overall field condition and it's not exactly nice to do to the other users of the field.
So, I bought this ball golf practice mat. Heavy rubber backing that doesn't move around and nice turf that feels like throwing off a turf tee. $45 for the large size (16" x 25"), but I feel like it's a good investment.
