Got two videos here. Both from about 5 months ago, hoping to get another one or two this evening to show some progress. This was about 6 months back to throwing discs from a nearly 10 year break, at this point I was still staying safe not trying to hyper extend my elbow.

First one is my more compact swing I feel comfy with this style because it's basically effortless but I don't get as much forward velocity but I do get more rpm(sidewinder disagrees). https://youtube.com/shorts/Xsj4InbxPZ0?feature=share

Second one is me stretching the leverage out and getting more forward speed on the disc. The throw itself was bad, the ground was less than optimal, stepped in a hole, nearly rolled my ankle, disc came out with no hyzer and ended up as a roller, probably a couple more excuses I could come up with but the vague shape of the form is there.

So go ahead and roast me.

Hey, I think you are having the same problem I am currently working on and that is some rounding.

Rounding means your disc is behind your body, so when you want to sling it to the front it is blocked by your body. As a consequence it has to come around your upper body, losing momentum in the process. At the top of your backswing your arm needs to be a little wider out and lower as you are currently pulling too high up.

You can work on this drill to bring your arm a little further out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2eWfwpahfk

And here is a nice overview of the swing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLh5uVoXifA&t=732s

Hope that helps

^Would use this definition of "Rounding" instead on mechanical grounds. Otherwise you would say PP and GG are rounding. Would show throws 90 to tee, SB.

"Rounding" only happens when the upper arm collapses against the chest and the disc has to swing around the left shoulder and your center.

Note how much further everyone has their shoulders turned back from the "rounder" on the top left. So their upper arm angle remains wide from the chest and disc swings inward into chest/center without the left shoulder in the way and then redirects swinging back out away from center. They are also swinging leftward for a distance shot, so the trajectory is not completely down the line from the camera.

Rounding might be appropriate here I occasionally do smoke my ribs with the disc if my timing is off or my plant foot slips. Getting a wider backswing feels like I would need a different run up angle to get the same release point. Worth a try of course thanks yall.

I think the steel toe boots are restricting you. Your rear foot points pretty far back and you end up followingthru more to the right of your front foot instead of pivoting more around to the left.

I suppose it's time to break out the addidas.

I've had some steeltoe footwear issues haha. I've always played in my red wings but lately I've been practicing in moccasins.. it seems like a good idea so far. Try your adeedaz
