Hey everyone. New to the forum but not to the game. I was wondering if anyone out there in internet land would be able to suggest a couple of courses to play in Sarasota. I'm staying in Siesta Key until next Friday. I've been told about North Water Tower Park, but are there any others that are worth playing while I'm up here? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Payne Park is a 9 holer that's worth playing. Solid, not spectacular but still fun. Nice contrast to the wooded fairways of N. Watertower.

Never played Lakeview so no input on that one.

Water Tower is the old school original Sarasota course that I would describe as a technical wooded course. Lakeview is more open, but has ALOT of water on it. Lakeview is fun, but there is a good chance of disc loss. Payne is a nice inner city park that's only nine holes, but has two sets of tees, and features some water, and a big hill. Payne is very fun, and makes for a nice round or two after playing Watertower or Lakeview.

Thanks for the great info. I hopefully don't have to choose. I want to play as many courses possible in the week I'm up here. Are there any leagues or groups that play at these parks? Maybe I can play a round or two with them.

Sarasota Sky Pilots have 570+ members (Not all active, but still). Plays league at Water Tower and Lakeview on the weekend (check the individual course pages for specifics) and Sun King was doing a weekly on Wed night at Payne.

If you need more DG than that, there is an ok course in Venice, A pretty good one here in Port Charlotte, and multiple options up by Tampa.

thrembo SSP #304 Sky Pilots Rule!!!

I really like Lakeview park and it is right in Sarasota. Keep in mind you are also only about an hour from Tampa/Clearwater area where you can spend the whole week.

Thanks again for all the great info. I played Water Tower on Tuesday and Payne yesterday. Found some really nice local players to play with and show me around the course.

Does anyone plan to play Lakeview today? I was thinking about heading over there around 5 or so this afternoon.
