I have booked a trip to Anchorage, and want to play some new courses while I'm in town. I'll be arriving on August 20th, and leaving the morning of the 23rd. Looks like I'm there during the State Fair.

I'm looking for any kind of advice that might be helpful on this visit. I've never been there, and would like to know where to go to disc golf, who's got good food, and other fun places to see. I will have a rental car, and will drive for a good day trip if warranted.

If there are any DGCR members that are willing to guide me for a couple of rounds, or even host a couch surfer for a couple of nights, that would be cool too.

Thanks in advance for helpful contributions.

I don't know the courses up there well but there is a ski area one that is pretty popular.

Eat at Moose's Tooth.

Don't get shot.

Have fun!

I was up there recently. We rented some bikes near Elderberry Park and rode the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, along the Cook Inlet. A great ride, not physically demanding, but it is 11 miles. You can ride all the way to Kincaid Park, https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=695

The ride is very scenic and the course is very nice. There is a guide listed on the link above, maybe reach out to him. There looks to be an active club as well. https://www.discgolfscene.com/clubs/Alaska_Disc_Golf_Association

Alaskan Brewing Company makes some nice beer. I enjoyed their Alaskan Amber quite a bit.

Snow City Cafe was outstanding for breakfast. There can be a wait and line on the weekends, but they have coffee to help yourself to, so if it is a nice day, the wait goes quickly. https://www.snowcitycafe.com/

Have a good time, BEWARE OF MOOSE. It is an amazing part of the earth.
