I... had no idea. I scratched my head from time to time wondering how they pulled off certain configs with just 2 mold pieces.



Can you link to any more information about this process? Until this very moment I thought it was upper wing, lower wing, and that's it.

Interesting stuff. The bit about the myth of a spacer - I could have sworn I remember Dave stating the BB driver aviar had spacer... then I went back and watched the youtube vid, sure enough, no mention of a spacer. I'm not convinced they don't have some kind of spacer system.

Some molds, like the OLS, you can see what appears to be a double parting line

While I am clicking with the new FD2. I'll have to disagree about the TDx. It's a boring glideless blunt nosed something. But it wasn't exciting to throw and underperformed on the lines it was meant to fly. The TD, roadrunner and sidewinder all handle the slot better. DM seemed to agree since they are going to rework the mold before releasing anymore.

It isn't quite what I expected and may not even hold the slot down, I bought the new TDx over a RR @ Hazy last week BC it was pretty (I know) but I am having fun throwing it. IMO it feels great in the hand.

Any chance we can get an update on this?
Also, I don't know how I'll replace my DD.
And no, the DD3 isn't the answer. Maybe some special run high $$ PD2 but I can't grip PD2. I need 10-11 speed, headwind dependable that doesn't fade and skip like a PD. And my CD and DD are gone

The CD3 would make an excellent replacement if you haven't tried those already. Chances are they'll go just as far. That being said, we'll definitely try our best to make another batch of Swirl DD down the road. Unfortunately it may not be this year though.

I figure this is outside of typical customer communication, but can you tell us what mold pieces make up the 2019 FD2? In the dedicated thread on here, one user pointed out that it has the same tooling on the flight plate as the teebird3. The bottom wing looks like a TL to me - I'm wondering if maybe it's a TB3 top with a spacer and a TL bottom.

A valid question. Unfortunately we can't disclose that information, I'm afraid. Sorry about that!

Just curious. Does Discmania put chincy stamps on the sig discs on purpose. My Royal Rages are already rubbing off, NS2s also. Not meaning to sound snarky or be an A hole, I am genuinely curious why this is. The foil on my stock S line FD is not nearly as worn and it has almost a year ITB.

No, never. But good information to know. We'd be interested to hear about the foils you see rubbing off earlier than others. Could one of them be a blue foil by chance? There are a lot of different variables in foils. Some are thicker, thinner, more durable, easier to stamp, harder to stamp, etc. Just like people, most foils are truly unique from one another aside from a few similarities in groups of composition.

Foil comes off easier than matte stamps, DX stamps softer than star, thin flight plates need more pressure and I'd bet they don't always hit real deep

We strive to have the least amount of tangibility of stamp on the discs so in theory some of them could be stamped hotter but that sometimes means a more tangible stamp in hand which some people don't like very much. D-Line discs are pretty hard to avoid stamping without being able to feel the stamp when running your hands over it.

The new TDx flies much more like they should if you haven't tried one of those out yet. We'd agree that the first batch was much too stable. The latest embossed runs are much flatter and definitely fly how they should.

The spexial edition Luster FDs that infinote had, and my Night Strike2 along with my Royal rages. My MD3s have the foil pressed into them by the stamp. All mig special or Sig discs are flat and can wipe off with pressure by hand. Still love the molds

I like it when it's imoressed a bit. The foils all will wear but Inlike the "worn, ghost stamp" look. Also on none of my DB2s or triumoh FD3s have I had thus issue. Really just on CG plastic.
