Watch for Piccoglow!

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 25, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

This little course plays almost links style along the back of a very busy active use park along a waking path. Most holes are 220-330 with some beautiful old hardwood trees weaving unique shapes on many holes and even a tiny bit of elevation that comes in the form of a little hill the #4 basket is on.

The course has great signs that show both pin positions well, a couple of tees have benches and the baskets are DGAs that I think are Mach Vs. Baskets are in good shape and catch pretty well.

The course makes decent use of some fairly limited space and though it's super fast playing it's quite fun.

Cons:

It's the type of breezy little course you wish had another 9 holes.

Nothing overly long here, I threw a 7 speed driver mainly for the longer holes and it was plenty.

If you throw under 300 maybe bring a distance driver.

The only real con is the walking path is super busy and right by the final 4 holes, so be prepared to wait a bit.

Other Thoughts:

Apparently I just missed their very popular glow league that happens on Monday nights. They have glow tape on the basket poles as well which is a fun touch(though officially the park closes at 6 in the winter).

Playing the Piccolo 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 11, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

9 holes with a short and long concrete teepad to every hole. Baskets are in decent condition. Course is in a small portion of a larger county park and offers some open holes, some tighter wooded shots, and even a place to try shots you wouldn't on a normal course. Open field nearby (if it isn't being used for soccer or cricket) for field work. Plays very quickly. Tee signs on every hole (at the long pad). Other amenities on site as this is a county park.

Cons:

While there is a walking path nearby, there is not really much in the way of OB to speak of. No water hazards (unless your drive on 3 goes over the fence), which can work as both a pro and a con. No real memorable holes or must play holes.

Other Thoughts:

In a section of Broward county that really doesn't offer a lot of options for disc golf without a 20-30 mintue commute, Brian Piccolo fills a void. It can serve as a quieter option for newer players to learn the game without fear of losing discs to water hazards. It is also a quieter option as far as disc golf courses go, for a 9 holer doesn't see the foot traffic that an 18 holer would.

Playin The Pic! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 20, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Playing here at the Brian Piccolo County Park DGC sure brings back memories of the 1971 movie, "Brian's Song." One thing is sure, this county park is well signed. I saw the first sign back on I-75 about five miles from the park. The park is a fairly large county park with a very popular walking path, lots of ballfields, picnic areas, racquetball courts and more. The disc golf course sits back at the rear of the park near the racquetball courts and then plays out to the street and back. This 9 hole course is a solid recreational throw. It won't challenge the better players but definitely provides a fun little experience for most of us.

At the start, you'll find a nice course sign complete with course map. There are two concrete pads for each hole and the tee signs are small metal ones showing the distance from both pads. The baskets are DGA Chainstars with the hard to read red numbers on top. There is also a number on the inside pole. It's always the simple little 9 hole courses like this that are the most well marked.

Distances from the regular tees, where the tee signs are, are between 265' and 368'. The shorter pads are usually about 75-100' shorter. There are some great tee pad locations. The course designers did a nice job setting them on some of the small rises or in the case of # 3, tucked up tight against the fence.

Cons:

The # 6 basket has been jumped up and down on. It's somewhat bent down.

Thick Florida grass would be very soggy after a rain = very wet shoes.

You'll most likely have to wait for passing walkers on a couple of holes.

Wind.

Holes 8 & 9 are open and kinda boring.

Other Thoughts:

When I stepped up to throw on # 4, I thought, "What a cool hole." The basket was set just past this small gauntlet of trees. I was pretty disappointed when I discovered, I was seeing basket # 6. The # 4 basket is placement is OK but not as cool as in that gauntlet of trees. But hey! If I ever came back here, I'd play this hole to the # 6 basket and no-one would know or care!

Great 9 holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 28, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Excellent course for everyday play/practice also great for introducing new players to the game. Two tees per hole make it fun for everyone no matter the level of play you do.Course is not heavily wooded and has nice open sections that let you play around with different shots.

Cons:

If heavy rain falls for a good day or two course will get flooded in certain sections and it can take some time to dry out

Other Thoughts:

Great course to visit, nothing mind blowing, just pure fun and love for the game. Course will be to the back left side of the park next to the tennis courts you'll see the parking lot next to whole #9 and the tee for whole #1. Park office will have a map/score card for the course.

Nice open 9 holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good course for newer throwers but if you have experince it is still fun. Mostly open holes. Seems to be pretty well taken care of.

Cons:

Watch out so you don't throw into the busy street or neighbors yards.

Other Thoughts:

I did like the course because I can stop in after work shoot 9 and get my disc golf fix. Its not a super hard course but for my level of playing its fine. Glad to see the S. Florida community of parks supports so many courses.

Sweet Neighborhood Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 6, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

A fun neighborhood course with two sets of large and grippy concrete tees, nice signage, and nice baskets. Nice mowed grass fairways with no roughage to speak of. A nice variety of short to mid-length holes with plenty of large trees to shape around and some nice minor elevation changes. Good course to introduce new players.

Cons:

It looks like a couple of the holes share a tee pad, or we may have missed them, or they need to pour a couple of more tee pads still.

Heavily used sidewalks wind through the course making it necessary to watch out for other park users.

Other Thoughts:

A great "throw every day" course if you live nearby, or a fun quick play if visiting the area and can't get to the areas better courses. The keyword here is "nice". Nothing earth-shattering, but solid.

Multi-use City Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 19, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course plays in a great park setting! Two (2) cement tee pads for every hole, except # 3, but I'm sure it's coming soon. Tee signs on every hole, and a nice sign showing lay out of course by hole 1. To get to course after entering park. Go towards back left of park near tennis courts and green cinder block building (racquetball courts) and you'll see the course lay out sign. The baskets are double chained chain star baskets.

Cons:

They set this course in back area of park giving it room for only 9 holes. Not a lot of OB areas, but there is a chance on holes 2' maybe 3 and possibly 4 & 5. There is a pond/lake if you go over fence on right on hole 2. Hole 3 if you throw really bad to right. And 4 & 5 have a fence with houses on right. Signs on fence ask you not to climb to retrieve discs. Hole 6 could put you into the baseball field.

Other Thoughts:

On weekends, bring a $1.50 per person to enter park. There is a lot to do! Baseball, soccer, and a bike/skateboard plus you can use a scooter on ramps. They had playground equipment around along with a walking/running path. Great park to do a lot of different activities!

Nice neighboorhood course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 5, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-easy parking
- lots of trees/shade

Cons:

wish there was more property for 18 holes

Other Thoughts:

This is a great little neighborhood 9 hole course with 2 tees per hole. The course will be most appealing to beginners and intermediate players. There is no water and very few spots to lose a disc. The course has a very large soccer/cricket field next to it which makes this a great place for field work in addition to playing a few holes.
