There are not many. Five decent baskets (Mach V perhaps) that are mounted very low to the ground from the original holes (5)-(7) and (9)-(10). These "holes" are all in the flat open and run about 200'-300' each, so if you put (9) and (10) back-to-back you could have maybe 450' of fairway to practice driving. There are no tees or markers of any kind. The baskets apparently do get some use as I saw a couple of guys putting on one as I drove away.

This course is pushing the definition of "course." There is nothing remaining except for the five baskets, and the only reason I haven't relisted it as a practice area is that the original flow of (5)-(7) and (9)-(10) can still be played as a micro-course by using the DGCR map.

If you do treat it as a course, there is virtually no appeal. Like I noted above, the holes are short, wide open, and flat--similar to making a lot of ho hum approach shots. The baskets are mounted really low, so I wouldn't want to practice putting on them too much and get acclimated to a different disc trajectory. The fairways for holes (5)-(7) feature a lovely food bar for snails, i.e. a retention pond full of mud and millions of species of bacteria, but you only need to worry about getting in there if you throw less than 150'.

In the words of a local I met, "East Brainerd wasn't worth playing before it got struck by a tornado." Now the struggling course has been lambasted and its little woods variety is gone. If I were within walking distance I might use the baskets, but otherwise no way. They should pull two of the baskets and donate them to Shepherd Rec Center.

- PAST MEMORIES - The best thing about this small church course is sadly the past. There used to be ten baskets here and it had a mix of open holes and short wooded holes. I imagine that Brainerd was likely several players first experience at disc golf. The layout appears to have been very beginner friendly.
- QUICK PLAY - That's right, you can get in and out quick. Easy to spot all five of the remaining baskets from the parking lot. Check out the course map on the "links/file" tab for directions on where to tee for holes (5,6,7,9 and 10)

The course was struggling, and then the winds came.
- TORNADO DAMAGE - On April 13th 2020, this area of Chattanooga was hit by an EF3 tornado, with winds estimated at 145 mph. The woods portion of this course, holes (1) to (4), have lost enough trees that it's no longer safe to venture into. Against better judgement, I looked around anyways for ten minutes and didn't find any traces of the course, other than one bench. In addition, I'm going to assume that basket (8), in the open, was destroyed by a fallen tree from the adjacent woods to the west.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - The remaining baskets are all in the open. Holes (5,6 and 7) are all 225-foot straight putter runs. Hole (9) is similar but with woods 20 feet on the right the whole way. Hole (10) is open with woods on the right as well, but this one is about 300 feet long. I birdied 4 out of 5 of them.
- NAVIGATION - The only way to navigate this course is to download the course map on DGCR. I did not observe any number markings while on site. I did notice metal stakes near the tee noted located on the map, but I am not entirely sure that it's their purpose.
- AMENITIES - The five remaining baskets are in ok shape. Other basic amenities like signage and tees, are no longer present. There are no other amenities
- UNIQUENESS - I would rank the variety here into my bottom 10 out of 436 courses played. Mostly flat, open and boring.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - Even before the tornado, I likely would have scored the course beauty into my lower third among courses played to date. In its current state, it's in my bottom 10 percent.

I barely quantify this as a course. If I lived within a couple blocks, I could see myself playing the first 5 holes according to the online map and then playing backwards from (10's) basket to get 4 more holes to make 9. No need to come visit this course unless you want to see the skeletal remains of a course. I've played every non private course in the Chattanooga area as of this review, and I would put this one firmly at the bottom. "I shall play here nevermore"

baskets 2 & 4 are impossible to throw too as the forest is too dense.

Baskets 5-9 are almost completely free of obstacles they are all straight throws, with baskets 5-7 literally being the exact same throws, just across different sides of the ditch.

The baskets there are too close so only 1 person can play at a time. The baskets there are also too close, not exciting throws only a small throw, maybe 200 feet on 3 back to back dejavu throws.

holes 8 & 9 are decent, but still very tight shots where if you miss you end up in the parking lot or in some dense and thorny bushes.

Go to another course nearby, there too many nice courses nearby to waste time here.

Could become a decent little course with some maintenance and moving of baskets. Please let us know if you need any help setting up new course.

Doesn't need tees, just signs or markers for where to tee off and move baskets to include obstacles and have a variety of shots.

Nice baskets. The final 6 holes are at least worthy of throwing a disc in their direction. Not sure why, but I especially liked the way the chains sounded when hit by a disc.

Good place to introduce people to disc golf or to practice.

Grass was mowed.

No tees or signs. This place is almost closer to a practice area than it is a course. The only thing saving it from being such is a hand drawn map (found on DGCR) that will give you a reasonable idea on holes 5-10. Other than that, you pretty much just make it up.

Holes 1-4 are some of the worst I have ever seen. Literally there are 4 baskets spread out in a densely wooded area. Maybe a hint of a skinny winding walking trail connects them. After #1, I had no idea what to do, where to go, which basket to throw out, etc. Either these are some of the worst fairways ever or some of the shortest fairways ever. If a legit path was cleared out/defined then they would be just fine.

Holes 5-7 run close and parallel to each other. A safety issue if people are on every hole.

There was some more land and features that possibly could have been used, like the row of evergreens for example, or even the power pole. Instead this is pretty much an open course.

#6 basket was unfortunately bent up quite a bit.

I really only played here because it had not been reviewed since 2015 and I was in town and had some time to kill. Seems not much has changed since those reviews.

There were no signs saying not to play or when to play, but be mindful that availability might be limited during service times or on Sundays in general if their members are using the course.

This course is good for their members (kids, novices) and maybe locals to be introduced to the game, but not at all recommended to anyone else.

Better 9-hole options in Chattanooga are nearby wooded-style Shepherd (if you are looking for something close to Brainerd) or Portland (if you are looking for something closer in style, but a better overall package).

Course is set in the surrounding green space of a local church, using a mixture of woods and fields making a nice loop that doesn't put you too far away from hole 1 once you finish. Maybe a 3 minute walk.

Baskets are all in great shape being new DGA baskets that look to be no more than a few months old.

Course is well maintained, no trash and grass in the fairways were mowed quite short when I was there. I assume that it is usually kept fairly short.

Course was not crowded when I was there at 3pm on a Saturday. I assume that on Sunday the course will probably be closed due to services.

Tons of parking spots and only 5 minute drive from I-75.

No real discernible tee pads were the main con here. It looks like there might have been some markings on the ground in the woods but they were very faint. There were also no tee signs so had to keep referring to the info on DGCR to determine approx. where the tee was supposed to be.

The wooded holes were probably a little too wooded for the beginning disc golfer. It gives an introduction to wooded holes to new players but they aren't that fun. Needs some trees cleared out to be a little more playable. Not sure if the Chattanooga Flying Disc Club has had a hand with this course but we are more than willing to have a work day to help clear some trees and brush if asked.

Holes 5-7 are all about 250' and go back and forth through a small part of the field. Might be a little dangerous if there are more people playing at one time as the tee pads are maybe 50' from the basket of the previous hole.

The baskets on this course are sunken about a foot lower than normal height which leads me to believe that this course is geared towards kids first time playing. Obviously the wooded holes can be skipped in one chunk so that would make a great 6 hole open course to start people on where they don't get too frustrated.

The course takes about 20 minutes to run through throwing multiple shots so it would be a great place to spend lunch breaks during the week if you work close to there.

Once tee signs and/or tee markers are in it will probably bump the review up a half point for each of those but as of Aug '15 my 1.5 stands.

The four holes in the woods (#1 to #4) are some of the worst holes I've ever played. Not only are there no indicators of where to tee off, the paths are extremely narrow. There is nearly no fairway, just a walking path in between trees. You will likely have to throw a tomahawk and then tromp through the woods. Much work needs to be done on these first four holes before they meet disc golf standards.

-Brand new course so you have it all to yourself, not sure if anyone knows about it yet..
-Nice safe area behind a church.
-Perfect for kids.

-The 4 holes in the woods are a little confusing because there are no tee pads or signs yet. The 5 holes out in the open are easier to figure out tho..
-The baskets seem to be a little lower than usual but are brand new.

Looks like sign posts are in place so hopefully soon they will add signs on them and this course will be great for a quick practice round if you live close by. It's been a while since a new course has popped up in Chattanooga so I think it's great to have some variety.
